Though I wish Luna finished her FFIX run. Those two were playing it concurrently but only Korone finished the game (since it was her first run ever), and Luna obviously played the game before.

What FF should be my first? I was thinking of trying XIII because I like how it looks and the gameplay, not a fan of turn based combat and that one doesn't look like (even though it is)

Any Final Fantasy after XII is garbage and FFXII has its own problems.
The golden age was between FFV and FFIX and those games used ATB system which is turn based but with turns decided by an action bar filling in real time (in active mode, in wait mode it stops in certain submenus).

It's a fanservice game for FFX and it shows in how it wouldn't work as a standalone game. The battle system is nice and the open-ness should've been in FFX but the mission-based structure of the plot kills it for me.
