Reading other people's works tends to help. Look at what they do and try to mimic it while putting your own spin on things.
A rule of thumb that tends to work for me is to just write down whatever comes into your head, then put the story away for awhile and reread it later. If you feel like there isn't enough detail, try elaborating on what the characters are doing/feeling. If you notice you repeated a word too many times, try swapping it out for a different word. If you reused a particular sentence structure a lot, try wording it in a different way.
