It all started with Kizuna AI for the most part, but she was only famous for her short clips. Then corporations entered the market to profit off the vtuber phenomenon by using them for streaming.

Nijisanji was first-to-market. Their whole idea was to get the vtuber software onto a phone app, then disseminate the phone app to a billion people and collect the revenue from them all. Therefore Nijisanji is very much about spreading the app to as many streamers as possible and get a rent on the entire vtuber market.

The first to release an English branch was Hololive, because they had a couple of troublemaking talents who were pushing for it (namely Coco and Haachama). The English branch became a wild success and made history, Gawr Gura became so popular even normal people recognize her. Hololive in general combines idol culture with vtubers so it's very popular with otaku and 4chan types.
Nijisanji saw this success and debuted their own EN branch, but to much less success. Most of the shitposting on this board is Holofags dunking on Nijifags for their corporation's low viewership and shitty business practices.

The person who Gura followed in her career was Nyanners, and she went and joined VShojo, which is a twitch-based corporation. They have a reputation for being lewd sluts and whores, the very opposite of the idols at Hololive. Sometimes their corporation's name is used as a pejorative "that's some Vshojo shit".

Various small English corporations populate the board too. They have some niche talents....and Pippa, 4chan looooves Pippa. She's basically Mr. Metokur in vtuber rabbit form. These corporations are still mostly irrelevant compared to the 2 big corporations, but they experienced some growth over the past year because of Hololive's missteps (namely, attempting to integrate males with the females, copying Nijisanji). The relevant ones are Phase Connect (pippa corp), Idol (jew corp), Kawaii (gfe corp), Prism (sony corp), Tsunderia (dead corp). Unfortunately smaller corporations are much more prone to drama and major shakeups, like an entire generation of talents leaving.

There's also a number of indies not affiliated with any corporation, but they have a super bad reputation here for being whores and sluts basically.
But basically, Hololive is where it's at. Hololive Global is the fastest thread on the board, everyone watches Hololive especially since their new generation debuted.

Besides watching streams there are other ways to have fun in case you get bored of streama, if you're a /biz/ fag there is a stock market simulator at /nasfaq/, at /#/ they use daily CCV for horse racing and to tribalfag, there are some wrestling shows tooonce in a while, uhh there is a minecraft server, uhh there are some fangames, most popular right now are holocure and idol showdown.

The main girl you support, you could support other girls too but this is the girl that resonates the most with you, it's kinda like picking a sport team, you could be in favor of other teams but there is one that you support the most. You could say that it's the opposite of stans, there is not a term for "stans" as they are usually refered simply as fans or they have a special name given by their oshi.
>anti/schizo
Most of the time these are exchangable, but anti is the opposite of a "stan" they take pleasure on trying to make the girls cry, ruin their careers and farm drama. Schizo is someone that makes shit up and usually antis tend to make shit up to destroy their targets, hence how they could mean the same.
>rrat/ogey
For every ogey there must be a rrat, for every rrat there must be an ogey, these words of wisdom were spoken by some rabit, rrat could be used to refer to some schizo narrative (you can't spell narrative without rrat, so it's used for short) and ogey you could use someone's bullshit or that's trying too hard

Girlfriend emulator, vtubers that roleplay as your GF to some extend, they usually do a lot of ASMR, they usually make a lot of money from this but is kinda risky
