Oyabun is still my oshi. You can tell she enjoys what she does and keeps pushing herself further. Her live concerts were some amazing stuff no one has really tried replicating. Considering at the start all she wanted was to appear in a cup noodle ad she really came far, and I'm very proud of her.

I haven't even heard her voice since the intial hype in 2017, but I will always be thankful to Kizuna Ai. No Ai means vtubers never become popular which means Sora and Hololive wouldn't exist which means I would never have found my oshi. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you Ai.

Well, now that we know that the Chinese are willing to replace Ai's actress with anyone at will sure, I can see Ai still being around in 10 years while some of the current vtubers aren't, probably because Cover's not willing to recast a vtuber while Ai's company gives not a single fuck about principles or anything like that

I actually still don't think they were entirely in the wrong.
It's important to remember that AI is honestly the first vtuber, this was uncharted waters. They were working under the assumption she was more like a video game or anime character, while consistent VA is ideal its not uncommon for them to be replaced in sequels or as things go on if the VA gets sick or quits. Especially if they're in different versions by different studios.
Under that assumption it made sense to think they could just recast AI if necessary, not realizing she was more of a personality rather than a character. And that really solidified for everyone that vtubers are about the voice behind them rather than the face they put on.
