I use wanikani and I like their system of teaching you the onyomi readings first and then kunyomi after, it leads to you being able to read most words right away even if you don't know the exact meaning.

I remember your advice, I did spend a lot of time on Kana (probably too much) but I'm okay with that. I'll continue studying slowly but consistently.
You started learning kanji (using mnemonics meghod), vocab, for grammar reading tea kim's guide and for immersion watched streams. After enough time you started reading and I assume you started mining your own vocab deck at this point? At some point you kinda stopped following guides and just googled stuff that you didn't know and you stumbled upon.

I'm kinda similar, but more in the sense that at the beginning of learning something new I wanna do as much as possible, but then I get burned out and stop entirely. At the same time I shouldn't lull myself into a false sense of learning by doing too little. I hope I'll be able to stay between the two margins. Yeah, even in medium sized cities there's always one or two places to get the goods for niche products/interests like this. I remember saving up money from allowances to go to a Suncoast in a mall near my house. They had a few figures, anime DVD's, VHS's, and manga for sale. The guy bwhind the counter was into anime and would always chat me up when he'd see me and reccomend stuff.
Also had a comic book store ran by a trans woman seriously, pre 2010 trans people are a whole different breed compared to the rediculous shitters you see all over post 2010 that had an anime DVD rental system that let me get some older stuff that I'd never have seen otherwise.
