For a long time I thought the idea of people being oil barons was a joke, but I’ve found a surprising number of regular aka supa doners with deep Hollywood connections when I assumed most of you were simply well off software devs.

So, tell me /vt/, where do you get your money from?

Ive been working for the US gov for 16 years. You start at a certain grade and every year you get auto promoted, that promotion comes with a pay hike.
I have no debts, I live with my mom and help around the house and pay all the bills and drive a car from 1993, even after buying useless shit I don't need I got plenty to toss at my oshi.

Won’t doxx him, (not that he does a good job of hiding it) but a big whale in the holo community has a father who wrote the screenplay to one of the most famous movies of all time.

So yeah, hollywood

It sounds like your imagination. Many whales are not very successful, but they spend what little money they have on these things. Someone that barely makes minimal wage but lives at home with parents and doesn't contribute to the rent and upkeep costs will still have tens of thousands to spend a year. Others find their wealth in credit card debt.

$100 a dozen or so times a month is nothing if you have a real job and no other hobbies.
I'm not gonna say it's the best way to spend money but it isn't like these are truly absurd amounts of money.

I knew an autistic guy on disability welfare that would spend all his money on weed and camgirls. With his parents throwing him some money every month in addition to his welfare he was probably spending a thousand every month. Some call it a hobby but I would be cautious in labeling it as if it's innocuous.

Not a *true* whale, since I don't akasupa every stream, but I do it regularly enough that I think I qualify.
I work security for the state. it's a cushy/comfy job where I can watch anime/chuubas while watching cameras and doing rounds through the site. I get paid decently and get full benefits. Also I don't have a gf/wife, and have no children or dependents of any kind, so giving my oshi an akasupa every now and then is doesn't hurt or effect me at all. I still save a shitload.
Actually, I could probably do it EVERY single stream if I wanted.
