The story you interact the most with as a "casual" is horrendous because it's padded with so much useless text that it's incredible how they managed to make it that bad. It's by reading the lore in item descriptions and playing through optional quests that you explore the world's history and get engaging content. Kind of a souls-esque hidden lore autism. The playstyle itself is good enough to keep you entertained but it's a real trap: there's not enough combat content in the endgame so after you finish exploration/quests you're left with logging on, playing for fifteen minutes and logging of. Events are just minigames which you don't even need to use your built characters, so it doesn't matter.

Character design is important for me in gacha games since I play primarily for the characters. G game barely does anything with its characters. The designs not being to my taste can't be helped, but the fact events tend to not matter at all and are basically just the writers circlejerking fucking sucks. Events are when you should take the time to properly develop your characters.
I was a huge lorefag back in the day but I eventually got tired because they rarely ever did anything interesting with the lore. Works for soulslikes because the world basically already "ended" in those games, so it's kind of like figuring out when and how everything went to shit. Doesn't work so well for an still active, inhabited and mostly peaceful one. Lore should be a starting point for potential scenarios and new developments, not just a thing you read about.
