Because they weren't taking a long break, they purposely stopped streaming until they could negotiate for a better pay when the time came for their contract negotiations.
The fact that they didn't even bother to do a graduation stream (Cover loses nothing from preventing them from doing a graduation streams) meant that they were only in it for the money and didn't care for their fans.

If they wanted to stay, I fully believe they could have. But whatever was necessary to make that happen, they didn't want to do. Simple as.
