I'd argue that Tony Taka did more irreconcilable harm to the series than Exa did, I can't stand what's Sega's let it become under him. At least Pako games had even a tiny bit of relation to the original series, even if it's just force in the title (though Exa had Adam iirc and Feather has been the only srpg Shining Force game since 3).
