I can see where you're coming from and, honestly, I highly doubt Niji EN will capture another lightning in a bottle like Luxiem was, but at the same time it's just always been the Nijisanji strategy to just keep releasing new talents and seeing what happens.

Just this past year, the JP branch revealed 15 new talents which, compared to other agencies, is an absurd amount of people. But they still get higher than average numbers when you look at the overall streaming space. Though I will admit no one in the newest wave has hit 100k subs yet, they seem to make good CCV and interact with a lot of the older members.

I've said this a lot, but their strategy has always been to fill in niches. Even if someone isn't for you, they might be the one streamer that can finally connect to some person in the world that hasn't found theirs yet. Even the smallest members have their own dedicated fans.

You say that, but if you're doing better in Niji than you were as an indie, even if only by a bit, that's still potentially a good deal. If harm is being done, it's potentially to existing talents, as the audience gets spread thinner, but that assumes that each successive wave is merely drawing from the same audience rather than helping to expand it. But it's also possible for new waves to draw in a new audience: it's exactly what happened with Luxiem, it might have been what happened with Salome. And on paper it does seem to hold true: HoloEN's views are up across the board in the wake of Advent's debut. But being in Niji still gives you a decent baseline in terms of viewership.

A few hundred viewers may not seem like a lot, but it is more than enough for a liver to make a living, and for AnyColor to make a profit

Worst case scenario? They get a small fanbase with a small profit margin. Best case scenario? They get viral and find a new undiscovered fanbase

So as long as the worst case scenario is still profitable, AnyColor will still continue to debut new people

(personally I would rather they sacrifice their immediate gain to amp up their supports structure for the existing livers for the long term instead of expanding like this though)

I get what you're saying, and on going indie vs joining niji part I agree that even with all the shit surrounding the company and branch it could still be better than trying to go indie. But on the part of drawing in a new audience, the problem with NijiEN is that it's already starting to see diminishing returns. With Luxiem they found an untapped market, and on the JP with Salome and new waves there the Vtuber market is growing in Japan, so they have a reason to keep expanding. But on the EN side? Much less growth, and while each wave going forward is bound to draw in some new fans it's not offsetting the existing fanbase being stretched thin. Even for HoloEN I'd say they can only release one more 5 person gen before they reach diminishing returns, NijiEN already crossed that point starting with Xsoleil I feel
