There is an art to "priming silence. It's perfectly normal to be silent during cutscenes with VA (less if they don't) but you have to let the viewers know that you're doing it. "Oh hey its a cutscene" or "oh what's happening here?" you need an element that'll immediately stand out. a certain type of hat, a weird streak in your hair, a pair of glasses that are an odd color. what it is will depend on your design as a whole, but you gotta treat realistic character design as finding the right 10% to make it unique.

Even outside of vtubing, let's look at anime for a second. Ash's hat is iconic. Digimon is at least partially defined by having every MC wear goggles. There's more to them than that but the point is you need one single element for people to grasp onto.

Don't overload the design and make it too overcomplicated; you have to find a happy medium with enough details so it won't look boring, but not too much that it looks crowded. I forgot where I heard it from (I watch too many character design tutorials) but you could try to visualize your character as a newborn, then gradually age up your character to where you want it to be. So for example, if your character was autistic about trains (or whatever else you like) as a child, or had braces, then you could add small details like that to the adult design and keep your lore in mind. I would say as a viewer I look for vtubers that have unique concepts, but not overly unique where it looks like a mary sue/gary stu abomination. A middle ground is always nice, something that's not done too much (i.e anime catgirl) but also not something that nobody would every think of in a million years.

I've been using the Samson Q2U. I'd suggest getting a mic arm for it as well if you do.
It has a USB connection and an XLR connection. If you don't have any mixer with an XLR connection, I'd suggest getting a program like voicemod to make your voice sound nicer, to go along with it.

Anybody that brings outside viewers into the /asp/ ecosystem/network is good in my book. It might be weird to look at it like this, but /asp/ and here-tubers in general could be looked at as some sort of a large and very loosely organized corp at this point. So many of it's viewers are shared between many of it's members. While it does take time for these viewers to spread among the different streamers, it will happen and be good for basically everyone.

You guys really need to pound this into your head, in streaming the best thing that can happen to you (next to making it for yourself) is for your friends to make it. Make and maintain lots of friends and connections and we can all grow together.
