DAY 2: I've learned Hiragana characters with "k" sound, so か、き、く、け、こ and 5 of that "muddied" sounds: が、ぎ、ぐ、げ、ご。I've also started typing them in Japanese using Google IME. I'm not familiar with all the options it provides, but I'll learn it when the time comes to use them. For now I know how to type Hiragana characters I studied.

I wasn't just trying to be an asshole. The reason I said that about hiragana (and it apples to katakana as well) is because unlike kanji it's not mostly about memorization.
The quicker you get those over with the quicker you you will start actually using it all the time and then you will realize that you didn't need to spend so much time writing then over and over again.

For me, I need some kind of visual stimulus. So for example if I'm listening to a podcast audio only, or an audiobook, I'm not gonna retain any of the information. But add video feed of the people in the podcast just sitting on their asses and talking and suddenly I'm absorbing everything.

It works I guess, but if you follow it to the letter you'll probably waste your time in things you already know or struggle trying to follow resouces that dont work for you.
Personally i'd recommend to grab a radicals deck and check it out until you more or less remember their shapes and general meaning before you get into the kanji grind, it'll make remembering complex or very similar kanji easier. No need to remember everything with 100% accuracy.
Grammar is mostly acquired by reading nip stuff, but whatever material you're reading wont be particularly enjoyable since you'll be distracted by your attempts to learn new things.
