By "people" you mean the people on catalogue. The majority of hololive fans are either indifferent to the boys or even enjoy them (mostly indifferent). The main reason is really that they're unicorns and Tempus's existence itself threatens their fantasy of their anime waidus being untouched by male interaction. I had a dream that Magni Dezmond released a hollywood movie that was doing poorly at the box office. I went to see it, and I was excited to see the movie despite it being kind of dumb. The sound levels in the theater were kind of bad, but I went to a private screening in a backroom and Magni was there. After the movie, most people were making fun of it, but I applauded. Magni gave me a badge that said "Still Magging for 17 days" which was a movie promo item.Then he and I went into a different movie to watch, but the ushers realized we didn't have tickets, since the theaters mirrors had cameras that used AI to identify everyone. As they were starting to approach us we left, stole a car and drove away.

I think there's quite a few reasons, but one of the biggest is not even connected to the talents themselves. As a waifufag I can empathize with people's criticism over stuff like Kronii's energy and personality during collabs with the guys vs in all of her other streams. But that doesn't make me hate the guys as a result of it unless they explicitly wanted that difference to happen.

As long as everyone else is just another fan then there's the sense of basically being on equal footing. She might play with a particular fan in viewer match, but afterward they return to being just another member of chat. In a sense I think there is the enjoyment of her interacting with "chat" as a whole, as long as there's that equal footing. It's easy to fantasize about someone you see only through the screen, just as it's common to fantasize about fictional anime or game characters who you'll never be able to interact with. I think it's much easier for the illusion to be shattered when you're dealing with a chuuba though, who looks and acts like an anime character but at the end of the day is a real person.

That's not duplicity, that's learning an individual person's social and psychological wants and needs, and providing for them to the extent that you are willing and able, which is how all mutually beneficial, good-faith relationships of all kinds are formed. Ollie's emotional wants and needs from Oga, (and for that matter, what she stands to lose from interacting with him, a guy who works for the same company as her and will be in serious trouble for anything even resembling misbehavior), are completely different from the amorphous collective consciousness in a box that is "Chat", as are the things she can reflect back. Oga actually can't fulfill the same set of needs that chat can, for reasons that anyone familiar with the philosophies behind anonymous imageboards should intuitively understand. The reason that's the case is because Chat isn't just thousands of random people acting like themselves. It also isn't just because the people who are watching a streamer are similar to her, so they found her palatable, and stuck around. It's specifically the people who wish to communicate with the streamer, and those doing so in good faith are, by default, willing to actively participate in that feedback loop with THE STREAMER. Everyone in chat is much more similar to the streamer in that moment than they are when they're alone. It's not about being similar to you, it's about filling a psychological/social need that you have. The most common want, which is the one that can be most closely emulated by streamers, is friendship. Maybe you just want more of a certain kind of energy in your life, which is why people watch Ina.

My main gripe wasn't about being a gosling or that Ollie doesn't engage with Oga exactly like she does with chat, but about how vtubers should try to entertain with a similar amount of enthusiasm and energy as whether they're with a friend or with just an audience of strangers, at least on stream. By reasonably entertaining people to the best of your abilities, not necessarily by playing the gfe, you can get them to feel more motivated to give you superchats, buy your merch, spread your branding, or whatever the hell you want. However, if it's abundantly clear that you literally only see your audience as some kind of atm machine, and that you aren't willing to improve or utilize your full, reasonable potential to entertain an audience of strangers, your audience either shrinks or stops growing and you fail as an entertainer. It's like if your teachers only gives you some half-ass skimthrough on the course material but gives their son the full lectures, your teachers fail not because they're not sucking your dick but because they're denying you the full education they can reasonably provide to you.
I'm not going to deny that incel behavior plays a large role into all of this for a lot of people and I think that behavior is pathetic. I want to believe that Ollie didn't feel comfortable playing with complete internet strangers even after playing with Oga. And even if she did, I believe she has the inherent right to choose who she wants to play with or not.
But if a vtuber explicitly shows some extremely preferential treatment when collabing with someone and isn't willing to even try to give a similar experience to their main audience alone,
