The suggestion to merge with the matuli general seemed out of place to me. Is there even that much overlap between the threads? /mion/ has been trying to be a thing again, making it /fubumio/ or something would make more sense. But I think this place survives well enough on its own usually.
It just sucks that a lot of pointless threads get created, which die in <20 posts, that tend to bump off generals. At the same time I am kinda of the mindset that if there isn't enough to discuss to sustain a thread outside of generic bumps/image posting, it's not a bad thing to let it die until its needed again.

I think its perfectly natural to be attracted to something new and shiny - it's only been a couple of days since the dogs came out, who knows what you will keep like in a couple of weeks. I can see the appeal, they are definitely the closest thing you can get to the Japanese experience in English, but Fubuki remains Fubuki and has entirely different charms that are unique to her. And you know that she doesn't mind and even encourages you watching other girls, so there's nothing wrong about it. We've all been around long enough to know that her content can be a bit hit and miss at times but to me, the highs always outweigh the lows in the long run. She's just been ultra busy - three lives within two months (possibly four in three months if you include her upcoming birthday) and some health issues lately have been taking a bit of a toll on her streaming activities, I can't even blame her for dialing it in to a certain extent. She will be back stronger than ever eventually, just give it some time. Please don't become like that guy.

I really enjoy this place too, and we've been pretty good at keeping it alive for years despite our relatively small and isolated community, but the board is faster than ever these days. And oftentimes, entire streams go by without anyone saying anything expect for the occasional image bump. It would be nice if we made some more effort to actually talk about streams, her tweets or other stuff related to her more here, because sometimes it feels like there's not much of a point of the thread being up, if you know what I mean? You're probably going through burnout if that's the case as watching too much of one's content, especially with streamers, will usually lead to you not enjoying it as much especially if you're watching them everyday. Same thing happened with des P. big difference between you two is you haven't started shitting all over fubuki for no reason because you got tired of her. This is something she's talked about before I believe, if you ever got tired of her you can always take a break from her or watch another member, maybe come back when you feel entertained by her again, either way she appreciates your support. What I would do is take a break or watch the streams you know you'll like so you don't feel pressured to have to watch everything she does, she'll still be here doing her own thing. She's a lot more laid back than others too so your thought of her streams blending in make sense, she doesn't actively strive to differ her content that much, I'd come back around her birthday or kuro's for something different. I've been skipping some of her streams but that doesn't change my interest for her, I'll just go a couple days without her and when I see she's streaming I'll watch her for a bit and feel joyed by her content. Either way I'm hoping you'll get out of your slump eventually, again no harm in taking a break, Fubuki will still be doing her own thing.

I'm not a fan of this. We even had /nui/ for Flare. It went quite well at the cost of Bakatare but died and did not return. I'm fine with just maintaining a placeholder. I know you're all here, you like Fubuki and we can start some chat at any time. I have no clue what /ggg/ and Hachaama did all the time but they have been present on the catalog almost every time I skimmed through it. Our struggle isn't that bad that we couldn't keep /fbk/ on the catalog.

I can understand that. I know it from mogudoog where streams and discussions sometimes overlaps but it's usually possible to distinguish who is talking about which stream.

Outing myself as OP of several generals including Bakatare, Okfams and occasionally fbk I just can say I love these places but it has been a hard time recently. I was on vacation for a week and now we have EN3+baubau. Being confronted with mion, nui and Watame generals when the group threads died is something that slightly hits me. I've set my priorities what I'm bumping and creating first at my set times.

Yeah, I think it'd be a detriment if our focus was more on thread discussion than fubuki but I don't think we'd have enough to talk about that would make a discussion more prelavent over the stream. The problem I have is that, as much as I enjoy them, I don't think there are a lot of moments in her stream that would make a good discussion point unless it's something like a zatsudan, but usually an anon has a type up a bit after the stream which some of us will discuss. When it comes to games there's just not as much to talk about, plus I'd imagine we'd want to be more focused on those streams than regular chatting streams. It's a bit of a predicament and if we were to really want to enforce some discussion we'd have to balance talking in the thread with paying attention to what's going on in the stream. I'm not sure if the thread was better at this at one point but for as long as I've used it there's never been a massive need for discussion mid stream.

There's a balance to everything. I don't think this needs to turn into a chatroom with live reactions to everything that is happening, but I think talking about what's happening or what she is saying on occasion would be preferable to dead silence. Just making sure, are you actually trying to translate the Japanese sentences into your native language in your head on the fly while listening or was this metaphoric? If you're actually doing it, that is a very common mistake many people new to foreign language learning do, but you're absolutely not supposed to do that, that would be very tiring indeed. I'm not very good at explaining how to do this, but you're supposed to try to understanding the sentence in Japanese directly. You will start associating the words you hear with intangible concepts, rather than native language words and you'll be able to decipher the meaning in your head on the fly without using your native language as an intermediary - just like you do in your native language. This might sound overwhelming at first but it's just a matter of listening a lot of material for practice (which can easily be done by watching streams).

I know what you mean that that is bad practice. For reference, I have managed to learn French pretty well which was generally much more pleasant to learn than Japanese, and I'm pretty good at doing things entirely 'in French.' Japanese feels different just because my knowledge is so comparatively lacking and I have to look things up every couple seconds if I actually want to understand 100%. My very poor learning habits have lead me to being dependent on turning individual Japanese words into English words and it's been very tough cracking out of it. The only things that I can think about not 'in English' are the super common ones but the more one-off nouns and such are still hard for me to recognize as Japanese words on their own.

Ah, sorry, I was just making sure in case you didn't know. Unfortunately I don't think I have much useful advice for you. You just need to keep at it, try to enlarge your vocabulary as much as possible (i.e. mining), get as much exposure as you can (streams, anime, manga games, twitter, books) and keep doing your reps and it will eventually start to come naturally to you. I can't "think in Japanese actively" either, my speaking skills are not good enough for that, but over time I got good enough in able to do it "passively" if you know what I mean. It's just a matter of exposure and practice really, if you never learned a word, the chances of you catching it during a stream a zero, if you heard and looked it up once or twice, chances are you won't catch it either, but if you've repeated it many times, you will start understanding it during the streams naturally as well, so mining and learning as much stuff as possible is basically a shortcut. The more you know, the less you'll have to actively search in your brain by attempting to translate. But I'm sure you knew most of this already. Just hang in there a little and you'll figure it out!
