That's more or less how I see it too. Watson made changes very far back, after going to and from Atlantis a few times and meeting Gura, knowing the fate of the city and choosing to save one person. Selfishly, but with her heart in the best place.
When the city fell, Gura got trapped, but Mori got a feeling that it wasn't time to reap that one, so Gura was freed. Watson arrived and brought her to their new home.

When Mori and Watson first met, the Reaper wanted the Detective for "Cheating death", and Gura remembered what happened and told Mori "You're guilty of the same thing." Mori knew she had no defense so she backed away. Eventually coming back to talk with the both of them and befriend them around the same time the other two came into the mix. Well, Mori and Kiara obviously knew each other so they met again. Watson and Gura met Ina while investigating a cult.

I have my own headcanon about Mori and Amelia's first meeting
Amelia was actually Mori's first assignment, but its an Amelia that's at the end of her own personal timeline. When the reaper greets her, she treats her as an old friend and reminisces about a shared past that Mori has not experienced yet. She encourages the young reaper to continue making music after which she lets her soul be taken by a very confused Mori. This causes her to take an interest in humans which eventually leads her to meet a younger Amelia many of years later.

Mori heads to the door.

She had been preparing snacks, drinks, and laying blankets in front of the TV for the long awaited movie night with Ina. Her friend wanted to spend more time with her since she felt they didn't interact enough outside of streaming. Mori always enjoyed Ina's company, so she was ecstatic when her friend asked to spend time with her.

At the door, Mori turns the lock and opens it.

"Calli! Oh my gosh, how are you?"

"All cool in the neighborhood my dawg! You made it just in time, I've got everything ready for us. Come on in!" says Mori as she guides Ina inside with an arm around her shoulder.

Ina was wearing a coat and her beret, along with a purse hanging by her waist. She took her shoes off, replacing them with guest slippers, and set her coat on the hanger.

"Hey Calli, can I quickly use your restroom? I have had to go ever since I was on the train, I feel like my bladder is gonna explode..."

"Yeah, no worries! It's on your direct left." Mori points at the door.

"Thanks, I won't take long." Ina heads into the restroom.

Meanwhile, Mori heads to the kitchen to begin bringing the food she's prepared over to the living room movie setup. Laid out on the kitchen counter are sandwich halves, bowls of chips, diced fruit, goldfish crackers, and a box of pizza she had delivered to her. She begins to grab some of the plates, when suddenly she feels a strange pulse coarse through her body.

"...the fuck?"

This was something Mori hadn't felt for a long time. During her reaper days, this was an indicator that danger was lurking amidst her, but this confuses Mori as she was currently on hiatus and had no reason for danger to be near her. She sets the plates in her hands down on the counter and turns her head around.

"Hey Ina! Did you feel that strange pulse?" shouted Mori in the restroom's direction.

No response.

From the kitchen, Mori peers over at the restroom door near the front entrance. The door is still closed. She then looks over at the living room. Ina isn't anywhere to be seen. Mori steps outside the kitchen and walks toward the restroom. She raises her arm in the air, attempting to summon her scythe, when suddenly she feels a sharp object gash through her stomach from behind.

She immediately falls to the ground, squelching in pain as blood flows out from her abdomen. She grasps her stomach with shaken hands, only to find that the object had already been pulled out. Mori crawls toward the front door, shouting cries of help for anyone to rescue her. She is then kicked from behind and now lies flat on her stomach. A powerful stomp crushes her spine, causing blood to erupt from her mouth. A hand grabs her long hair and yanks it upward, pulling her head up with it. Mori coughs and yells violently as she feels her hair tearing away from her scalp. Long, slim legs now appear in front of her. Mori gazes up at the figure.

"The Ancient Ones were never pleased with you, Mori. The quest for world domination would have never been a challenge had it not been for the existence of your kind. For too long have you inhibited our advances, and now you pay the price."

The tentacle, which Mori thought was a hand, now raises her completely off the ground, her body dangling from her hair. Mori shakes around, trying to break free from its grasp to no avail. Another tentacle wraps around her waist to prevent her moving any further.

"Ina... I thought Death-sensei had your trust. I had your trust..." mutters Mori, still gasping from the pain now spreading through her torso. "It has been several millennia since we ended the war, why start again?"

Ina, with a wide grin on her face, approaches Mori, knife in hand, the one that was used to attack her initially. "We only agreed because we wanted to wait until we found an opening to attack. Once we heard that the Grim Reaper herself was going to join Hololive and go on hiatus, it was an opportunity we couldn't ignore." Now in front of Mori's suspended body, Ina points the tip of her knife below her sternum. Ina's free hand softly grazes around Mori's stomach, slowly making its way to her pelvis.

"Oya? Calli, don't tell me..." giggles Ina as she concentrates on her hand's senses. "You didn't tell me you were going to be a mother, Calli. I wouldn't have stabbed you here had I known."

Mori had planned to start a family with Anon, leaving her reaper life behind. Death-sensei was initially against the idea, but came to a compromise, requiring that Mori abandon her immortality. Only mortal beings were capable of bearing children, and as such, Mori had to make the sacrifice. As gratitude for her work over countless millennia, Death-sensei allowed her to keep her acute sensory ability as well as the ability to summon her scythe. However, she was no longer able to possess her normal fighting strength, as it would take a toll on her mortal body.

Ina begins to apply more pressure to the knife's tip, causing Mori to squirm in agony. Tears are now dripping from her eyes. Ina looks up at Mori's distressed face.

"It would be a shame if I couldn't meet him. Let's take a look now, shall we?"

In a swift motion, Ina effortlessly slices through Mori's belly down to her pelvis. Mori shrieks at the top of her lungs, her body jolting in shock as the incision tears through her skin. She begins to urinate as well.

The scene is like that of a slaughterhouse: the laborer taking life from its defenseless cattle, the endless faucet of blood spilling its content onto the floor, the animal struggling for life that will soon come to its end.

Ina takes her free hand and plunges it into Mori's womb, moving around frantically until it pulls out a blood-stained glob from the inside. She brings it close to her face and inspects it closely. "Ah, it's only been a month. Now that I think about it, didn't you have a date with someone around a month ago? What was his name..." Ina silently rubs her chin as she tries to recall the father's name, staining her face with red in the process. "No way! It was Anon, right?!"

Mori’s eyes were drooped, evident that life was slowly emanating from her body. Regardless, her eyes still meet with Ina's.

"P-please don't hurt him..." whispers Mori, her voice trembling ever so slightly.

"Aww... even in your final moments, you can't help but worry about others!" says Ina mockingly. "You know, me and the girls always admired you for that. I'll tell you what, I won't hurt Anon. For how well you've treated us, I won't do it." Ina looks at the glob still in her hand. "...though, I'm really sorry about your kid! Really, I am! I had no intention of killing anyone other than you, but now it can't be helped, you know?" Ina again reaches into Mori's womb, this time to leave the lifeless fetus in it's home. At this point, Mori's body has stopped reacting to Ina's poking.

"Hey Calli, by any chance have you decided on a name yet... huh?" Hellooo? Moshi moooshi?" calls out Ina, but to no response.

Suddenly, Ina perks up, alarmed by the feeling of something quickly approaching her. "Sorry to cut it short Calli, but Death-sensei is stopping by soon and I gotta make a run for it. I'll catch ya on the flip side!" Ina releases Mori's lifeless corpse, retracts her tentacles, activates her camouflage, and quickly runs through the front door.

The wind blows over the pasture, the sun’s rays kissing the Earth with its warmth. The sky is clear, the day as great as good can be. The majestic landscape lies empty, minus a flowing stream cutting through the green canvas and a small path leading to the only hilltop that can be seen for miles. Amongst the hilltop, a tall tree stands, its leaves rustling against the wind, and under which a girl lies in its shadow in a peaceful slumber. A voice calls to her.

“Mori Calliope. Please wake up.”

Mori, curled up with her hands wrapped around herself, moans slightly as she hears the voice calling to her. She slowly tosses herself around face up and opens her eyes, waking up to tears spilling across her face. She wipes her cheeks with her wrists and sits upright. She glances around at her surroundings.

“So that’s what happened…”

The space that she’s in is no unfamiliar sight. In fact, she has been here countless times over the course of her existence.

“Mori Calliope.” calls out a tall looming figure that’s standing behind her.

“Hey Death-sensei.”

Mori turns her head around, and sure enough, it’s her teacher and mentor.

“I presume I don’t have to explain where we are. Am I correct?” says Death-sensei, addressing his voice to the pink-haired reaper.

“Yeah.” nods Mori.

“Well then…” The tall figure extends his arm towards the dirt path. “Let us begin our journey.”

Genuinely, how do I write like this? I've been to /lit/ a few times. I've tried writing a few things. Wrote a Mori story once. I'm even trying to write my own novel but it's not as detailed as it could be and it gets hard to come up with good dialogue sometimes. It’s 11pm as you finally leave the clothing store, carrying an eco-friendly grocery bag in one hand. You reach into the bag to pull out one of your purchases, a black, short brimmed baseball cap. It wasn’t particularly impressive, but you realized you never had bought a baseball cap before. As you place it on your head, someone bumps into you, causing you to stumble and drop it.

“Guh! Oh- Oh my gosh- I’m so sorry!” It apologizes.

You straighten yourself to see what caused you to drop your cap. It was a female with freely flowing, long, light pink hair. In a panic, it drops to its knees and picks up the cap you dropped. She carefully dusts it off before handing it back to you.

“Oh god, I’m so-”

“Pay more attention, maggot!” You cut her off, annoyed.

“I- I- uh...” Surprised by your outburst, she steps back, “ugh... guh,” and starts whimpering with tears in her eyes.

You calm down after seeing that, maybe you went too far. Just as you were about to apologize for snapping at her, she turns around and clumsily starts to run away. Now you really started to feel guilty about what you said, and started following her to properly apologize.

You turn around a street corner, and see her turning another corner. You keep jogging after her until you find her sitting inside an empty park, on a bench. She doesn’t see you approach as she’s looking towards the ground, silently crying.

“I apologize,” you say as you reach her.

“Huh?!”

She jolts and meets your eyes, before quickly turning away and hiding her face in her hands. She tries to stop crying and wipes at her eyes, but to no avail. Seeing this, you take off your hat.

“Here, take it,” you offer it to her.

“Wai- huh? W-why?”

“I said take it!” You say more forcefully this time.

“Guh!”

She shuts up and takes the hat. She simply looks at it for a few seconds before putting it on. You notice that she’s wearing a black Applebees uniform, which matches with the hat. Now that she has calmed down, you sit down beside her on the bench. She smells faintly of alcohol.

“Everything alright?” You ask.

“Sigh, no, not really. I’m sorry if I worried you, that wasn’t your fault. It’s just been a rough week.”

She buries her face into her hands and takes a deep breath. A few seconds pass in silence, and seeing that you weren’t planning on leaving, she sits back up. And pulls out a small bottle of wine from a pocket. She pops it open, and takes a large swig.

“Guh... Today has just been awful. Everything and everyone has been awful. Someone just came into the restaurant and started twerking on the counter. Another one orders a drink, tastes it, and guess what? She throws it back at my face! Because ‘it doesn’t taste like alcohol’! What the fu-frick am I supposed to do about that?”

She pauses to take another swig from the bottle.

“And my boyfriend… I don’t even know if he cares anymore. I can’t understand him, and he doesn’t even want to talk lately. It’s like he’s just off playing in his own world… Maybe he’s already found someone else. Gosh, why did I even start dating him?”

She stops, her brow now creased in anger, or perhaps self loathing. You continue to quietly sit beside her, and you find yourself admiring her figure. Even though all she’s wearing is her Arbees uniform and a simple cap. Under the street light, it all seems to fit so well. She finishes off her bottle and looks you in the eyes.

“Um, thanks for the cap, and sorry for rambling… You didn’t have to be so kind to me... I don't know how- Uh- My name’s Calli, could you tell me yours?”

“I am a soldier, I don’t need a name!” You say with a bit of pride.

“Uh- Huh? So you’re actually a soldier? I thought your uniform was some kind of cosplay,” she blurts out something quite rude, “I- No, nevermind, sorry. What I wanted to say was: would you mind coming back to my house? I have to make this up to you somehow. Right! Maybe I could open up one of my expensive wine bottles… Uh, you do drink, right?”

The moment she opened the door to her apartment, you were assaulted by the heavy smell of grapes and alcohol. You could see various bottles of wine lying around the room, some half finished.

“It’s a bit messy but make yourself comfortable. I’ll be right with you, yes.”

She disappears into another room, shutting the door behind her. Being careful not to knock anything lying around, you move to sit on the bed. The room wasn’t too shabby, and most of the furniture was colored in some shade of black, giving it all a somewhat gothic aesthetic. You lay back on the bed while waiting for her to come back, and realize you’re no longer wearing a hat. You quickly rummage through your grocery bag and pull out the bowler hat you had bought earlier. Calli returns as you put it on.


“Oh, nice hat.”

“Thanks.”

She had returned wearing a different set of clothes and with a wine bottle in hand. She was now wearing a black and red tracksuit, with it’s jacket open to reveal a white shirt with a skull printed on. She was still wearing the hat, and once again, you felt your heart skip a beat. There was something to it, and it wasn’t just your imagination anymore. Even the way she had tied up her hair into a ponytail, there was a sense of rightness to it, like it was meant to be.

“It isn’t much but this is the most expensive bottle I’ve got… Or rather, it’s the only one,” she mutters towards the end.

She moves a table to the front of the bed, and places the bottle and a couple of wine glasses onto it. Pulling up a chair, she sits opposite to you.

“Anyways, you said you were a soldier, right? What’s that like?”

“I kill maggots.”

“... R-right, of course, that's what soldiers do, haha. I um- you already know I work at Applebees- But I also do some other stuff.”

“Like working as a model?”

“No no no, no way am I qualified for that. I compose music and sing, like rap and stuff. Oh, right, I’ll put on some music. What kind do you prefer?”

“AMERICAN music.”

“I-I see, but I don’t think I have anything like that.”

“Is rap American?”

“Um, maybe? I guess it's kind of-”

“Then sing some rap.”

She looks away, taking a sip from her glass, contemplating.

“Naah, I’m not that good. I’ll just put up some rap on the player if you really want to hear it.”

“I want to hear you sing it,” you look at her with determination in your eyes.

“Guh, well, I-I guess I'll have to. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you.”

She booted up a speaker to play some background music, and started rapping. You were instantly mesmerized. By the hat. It was a perfect fit. It fit her in a way it could never fit you. Her personality, the way she walked, the way she talked, the way she rapped and even the clothes she wore. They were all a match made in heaven for this simple looking, black cap. It was in it’s own personal Nirwana, and in those few minutes, you wished you were the hat.

After she finishes rapping, she sits down beside you on the bed. Her eyes dart around the room as she sips from her glass. You grab her free hand with both of yours and squeeze them.

“That was perfect, you have great potential!” You say with absolute confidence.

“... You mean it?”

“Affirmative.”

‘... Thanks, and uh, thanks for listening. Sorry, I was just a bit nervous there. It’s a dream of mine to eventually become a proper rapper... even though I haven’t really sung to anyone other than myself… And my boyfriend, but he doesn’t really get rap, or music.”

“Then he’s a fool.”

“I wouldn’t go that far… He just doesn’t really talk much…” She pulls out her phone and hands it to you, “It’s a picture of us at a concert.”

The man beside her seemed mostly normal- with the exception of the gas mask he was wearing, which completely obscured his face.

“He got caught up in a fire when he was younger, and it burnt off most of his face. Even though he can’t talk, we still communicate through text… But lately he’s been getting more distant. I know I’m not being fair to him, but I just wish he was more clear with what he wanted. Or how he even feels about me…”

Her voice cracks as she stops talking, and she tears up. You aren’t sure how to handle this. Was this your fault? Maybe you should give her another- Your train of thought is interrupted as she looks up and plants her lips onto yours. Her soft embrace leaves you momentarily stunned. Her breathing is ragged as she pulls away.

“Wait, hold on. You already have a boyfriend, and as a compatriot I cannot-”

“It’s… It’s fine-”

And before you can say ‘No it’s not,’ she locks lips with you again and pushes you down on the bed. With such a fine work of art on top of you, you’re not sure your patriotism can hold you back anymore.

He was still in the dark about what happened on that fateful night, and she had made you swear on your country to stay quiet about it.

“Mufuhua!” Her soon-to-be husband cheers as she steps onto the platform to take her marriage vows.

You think the wedding dress suits her well, but something feels off about it.

“Muh-huh,” the husband makes his vow, nodding his head.

“... Yes,” Calli makes her vow, and starts crying. But they aren’t tears of joy.
