Then again Sana was pretty far behind the rest of their gen and Council got Susan'ed like 10 times in its subs so it's likely even Sana was really more like 600s and it's probable some the councils would really be 1m+ at this point. The insiduous nature of the susaning is that it actually wasn't just straight up unsubbing people - people usually don't -know- that they've been Susaned. Today Advent would have been Neal'ed in equivalent but they weren't and so basically it's not possible to really gauge Councilrys compared to Advent. The level of their output hasn't changed post-holo debut, only the viewership. Not belittling the work they put in, I remember the numerous shill threads they kept getting, but what if the viewership back then was quite appropriate for the quality of the content?

This is something that I often ponder when holos are being touted as the industry's super-talented, entitled elite. With a handful of exceptions they were all picked out of that mire of unimpressive minor streamers, vtubers and youtubers, yet somehow their skill and talent are elevated the moment their Holo debuts are announced. Meanwhile, their equally (and often more) talented peers get to keep wallowing in the mire, experiencing minor growth at best.

Big indies are exciting because if they manage to stay big, it's often because they have that little extra something. Out of holos, only a couple of the JPs impress me to that degree. Most holos are too stale and basic to have gotten noticed without the company brand buff. Specifically, they tend to smell like

The problem I have here is defining what exactly a vtuber deserves. Merited viewership and recognition? Yeah, definitely. Would be great if people discovered and watched vtubers primarily for their merits as entertainers. What that should amount to for each, I don't know, but I feel it'd make for a more lively vtubing scene and industry.

Career success made possible only thanks to a corpo's brand power? Kinda sucks at any scale, even if the vtuber is seen to deserve such success. Leaves other similarly deserving talent hanging or relegates them into undeserved positions such as smaller corpos, where they're perceived as off-brand and inferior, regardless of their skill and talent, just for not being under the bigger corpo. Promotes industry stagnation in turn, as the biggest corpo and their methods become the template the rest will have to emulate in the hopes of gaining any semblance of success.

I wouldn't take anything away from FUWAMOCO, but their past lives then deserved this too. And honestly, the gap in the attention they're getting between then and now is jarring.

nah, before it was confirmed who they are they gained a lot of traction and many people were sharing the sentiment "man, I wish about them sooner, I'm enjoying their old streams a lot". They simply went under the radar, like many other chuubas.
As for effort, they've been grinding for decade+ and now that they're here i can confidently say they are precisely what Hololive needed and precisely what people initially expected from Myth's debut, back when Hololive was entering EN market. They are super Holo JP in their mannerism but they speak English natively. Perfection.
