I unironically have never understood the appeal of Gura. Even after watching about 30 of her streams I still don't get it. The average HoloJP is more entertaining than her and I don't even watch any of them anymore. I watched gura for about 6 months post-debut and when I checked in during her birthday stream this year where she read the fanbook she was almost completely unrecognizable. Slurring her words, not finishing sentences, singing deteriorated. It was pretty shocking. I don't go on vt often so I'm sure it's been discussed to death but come on, there's got to be drugs in the mix here

Many people like her because she was their gateway into vtubing. She debuted when the west was first getting into them, during the big english vtubing boom and during Covid. She was in the right place at the right time, was handed a decent model and had all the attention required. If it was anyone else in her place in 2020, as long as they had similar qualities (e.g. cunny voice to match the model, semi-decent singing) then they too would be in the same position as Gura is right now and would have a mix of loyal fans, ironic cunny lovers and normalfags who don't know anybody else.

You're right in thinking that Gura is an average vtuber, because since 2020, many have come along that do the same things she can and much more. But you can't replicate being in the right place at the right time. Gura got the luck of the draw and now probably can't ever fail because of it. She can take as many breaks as she wants and put in minimum effort. People will stick with her because she's babi's first chuuba.
