the first thing that's important to note is nerissa has made some subtle but salient artistic choices in the way she translated the lyrics. i'm sure you've listened to her cover a million times now, but i'll just quickly reference some lyrics of another cover of the song by judyphonic.

so, there's not any huge huge differences here, but the overall effect of small artistic decisions does add up, in that nerissa's lyrics downplay the collar's role as an 'entity.'

in the judyphonic lyrics, the collar is literally an evil cursed conscious object. in nerissa's lyrics, it's actually quite out of the way to interpret the endless placating line as being spoken by the collar. i'd wager anyone who listens to the song would just hear it as the speaker singing their thoughts.
does this change the overall meaning of the song? not quite. it actually just slightly shifts the genre in my opinion. if you go and watch and listen to the original, which fwiw i heard nerissa's cover first, it's actually much more of a horror story. yes, it's obviously allegorical, and that allegory is still quite present in nerissa's version, but all i can say is that it 'hits' different, especially with the voice synth singing it. the original feels like mary-san following you around kinda creepypastaish. it's actually gorgeously creepy and i love it.
but nerissa's changes are incredibly artistically intelligent. by weakening the 'cursed object' element of the song, it becomes much more of a 'first person' song, rather than a third person one. with her strong voice, and virtuosity, the sense of the song as the miserable inner monologue of a perfectionist comes through much more powerfully. again, the differences between the versions are more about degrees of emphasis. they're both lemon caramel cakes, but one's more lemony and the other's more caramely. this is a little bit overmeticulous but

there's some subtle characterization changes here imo. this one could honestly be a reach, but to me the flavor differences were quite nice so i thought i'd go into it. in judyphonic version, the narrator is almost like... a germaphobic misanthrope. the choice of 'filthy' is a word for someone who absolutely hates humanity, and in a small sense i feel like the 'you' which the listener should at least partially identify with is weakened.
by comparison, colloquialism "ain't it too good to be true?" in nerissa's version heightens the sense that she's talking to the listener. miserable, vulgar, and crude is also a stronger characterization of the listener/confessor who, in the nerissa version, sounds much more like he eventually dates this girl. again, the singer as a perfectionist who sees herself as above everyone is much more strongly emphasized. 'a girl like ME confessing to you.'
the final effect i think of these cumulative differences is that in the original, the viewer feels like they're listening to a horror story about a collar, while the back of their head understands it's allegory, and the ending is sort of like a blindsiding punchline because it takes a second to process the implications of it.

so, this has all been analyses of the differences between the songs. i think most of what the song is about is rather obvious, but i want to add my little kernel of interpretation on it. it's not just that the tightening collar is all of the pressure and expectations and pain she feels from a childhood of toxicity and possible abuse.
the collar is literally the rope that she finally hangs herself with. it's a "fairy tale" about a girl who seemed perfect and hung herself. it wasn't some rash decision of despair. it was the story of her entire life, when the collar that never loosened at all finally snapped her neck. this is why she apologizes, and why she's 'happy' at the end of the song.

each chorus has slightly different lyrics to end them, and obviously there's a yandere vibe to the shift of focus to the listener. but i think there's a little more to it than that. by traumatizing the listener/her husband or boyfriend, she's giving him all her pain, and she's getting all the love and affection she could ever want in the form of the mourning she knows he'll do in her passing. her last happiness is that her neck is finally relaxed; it's completely snapped.
