Shadowgear doesn't have the same spark as some of the older ships. Babudon prime was when Shien was still being very kouhai-like and acted like a puppy (sometimes cute, sometimes mischievous, sometimes overbearing) which would get a good reaction out of Roberu. In the more recent streams Roberu has leant into things more but the ship is so dead people were asking if Shien was his manager when he jumped into Roberu's Mario Tennis stream.

MaFia's dynamic is also playful but it leans more on Oga pushing Shien into the shenanigans. They both also are on similar wave lengths when it comes to fanservice and their interests which helps keep people surviving off crumbs.

Shadowgear on the other hand is just not as exciting. They're just two dudes hanging out and being chill with Rikka occasionally needing Shien to stop them from turning a normal collab into an endurance stream. It's enjoyable to watch and I like their collabs but it doesn't elicit the same "teetee" feelings. I feel like holostars staff not having many women on board is the reason why shorts are bland.
Despite being fortunate enough to have gender divide in viewerbase pretty even, stars' target audience, being group of male entertainers, IS women. And staff has kinda shaky idea content wise what women like. So they end up playing it safe and boring, leaning on the cutesy.
Source on holostars staff is Majin, who's brought it up few times before. He's talked about asking marketing staff for input on stuff many times because it's sausage fest at holostars department.
