Manly was kinda tangenting a lot, and he was excusing himself "oh, sorry, I don't mean to hijack your stream", however, Lia was telling him "don't worry, it's fine, say whatever". So, the "interview" was good on tangents, even shitting on California; nevertheless, Lia did sound a bit rushed, like she wanted to end the stream at the 2 hour mark. If Lia had just allowed the conversation to continue, it would have gone for 3 hours or more; I mean, we mostly heard about him, we didn't get to hear Lia tell her own stories or experiences playing games, we didn't get to hear her talk about her husbandos or Tumblr fanfics, or anything of that sort, which Lia is famous for.
I definitely think it could have gone better if both of them were a bit more relaxed.

Lia can go long if it is a gaming stream where she is chilling and doesn't have to be "on."
Her money is her high energy zasudan and topic streams, and sometimes the battery life gets drained fast on those. And that is not just exclusive to Lia, that is anybody.

That's why I think it is unfair when people compare her to Tenma, Lumi etc they stream a lot of hours, but it is gaming they are vidya chuubas where you can just sit and play for 5-6 hours, read chat, whatever whatever. Lia is not that guy (and I'm not discounting Tenma and Lumi either they are supreme workhorses of the company)

In general, I agree with your premise. However, I think a really good interview occurs when the host helps the guest to talk more about different topics. If you are just asking one question and getting one answer, then it's a boring interview; if you however, push a bit, and there's a good back and forth between the two sides, then it becomes more than an interview, it becomes a real collab, basically a podcast where people are enjoying themselves talking about many things. I don't think the interview was bad, but I definitely think she could have been better to make it a "conversation" and not merely an "interview".
Take for example, the collabs between Pippa and Tenma, or Pippa and Lumi, in 2021 and early 2022; they start with a general premise, and then it devolves to talking about random things, life, education, vtubing, menhera behavior, etc. Those were great.
Or take one of the biggest podcasts, Joe Rogan. He allows his guests to talk, but he also adds his own, and the result is often great. It's not just an interview, people want to see the interaction.

What you're describing is every first time collab among vtubers ever. Lia did this with Punkalopi and Nova just this month. Those weren't interviews. Comparing an interview to a collab is dishonest, especially when you can compare interview to interview.
Lia & manlybadasshero needs to be compared to Lumi & max0r, Pippa & Nousagi, Pippa & Blizzdev, Pippa & the failed ceo, Pippa & Colres, Lia & Collei. for my money, Lia & manly's interview was easily the best of those.
