It's more likely that you're projecting your desires onto the wider audience because it'd help your cause if it was on your side. A relatively minor change in Twitter followers doesn't mean much, with that short a timeframe it's mostly about timezones and which parts of the world are actually on twitter. Comparing metrics like this works much better when you take two full 24 hour weekdays and compare them to eliminate the timezone factor.
