They look very generic like there was a very vague design brief that just said "MAKE EN 3". I haven't got a clue what the theme is supposed to be anyways but I'm not a fan. Myth theme is obvious and so is Council. This misses the mark entirely I can't tell if it's music centered or like a secret society or paranormal or chunibyo.

The artists (and Cover) really missed hard with these. Making something iconic is hard (think OG Marine, Gura, or Coco) but it feels like they didn't really try.

I can't really explain this but in /o/ terms they look like the new Mercedes E-class. Supposed to look good because of the badge but really it's just a pile lazy design trends haphazardly thrown together. They probably look good enough but won't ever age well.

Their design as a gen overall is terrible, but that was obvious since the first teaser. It is just way too much of the same colors as has been said, with the twins providing just enough contrast to ruin any potential group aesthetic on top of that.

Also, other than the rock, they don't look like Hololive. Twins and raven look generic. Raven especially is way too serious of a design, I can't imagine her in an idol outfit at all, the other tall girls in Holo at least had colorful hair. The consequences of Genshin Impact have been a disaster for Character Design overall. HoloX, Holo-Advent, and like - FIVE Nijisanji Waves have all reeked of Gachashit. They all look like 3* trash you have to wade through to get the Banner 5*. I'm sure that is intentional since they keep hiring artists currently drawing for Gacha Games. I like Crazy Eyes and her crazy ass eyes tho.

for some reason whenever a new gen comes out, i always hate their designs. this one is no different and the designs give off indie 2 view vibes. im not sure what it is, but perhaps the color palette of pink, purple, black etc. just gives off western troontuber vibes. i felt the same about council, but it grew on me later, though i mostly watch fauna for the personality rather than model. maybe these just need time to settle in.

One reason they all look weird is the monochrome backgrounds. We've only seen them on black/white/ pngs and their entire trailer is in a dark gloomy prison with extremely harsh lighting.
Like just picture Narissa during her playthrough of Minecraft or super bunny man or something, it'll be totally different.
The twins and the cunny look like they'd fit with pretty much any light/pastel colors, the other two are gonna look weird as shit every time they plan anything that isn't resident evil or some other horror kusoge.
They're primed to have absolutely BITCHIN new years kimonos though, I'm already looking forward to it!

And who knows maybe the gap moe from Ebony Darkness Dementia Ravencroft playing super mario in a totally deadpan monotone will be great.

They're fine. They're not bad designs but kind of uninteresting. I don't like the huge Kingdom Hearts shoes on the twins and I wish there was more color than black, black, black, black, black, blue, blue, blue, pink, pink. But overall they're ok. I think Alyssa Laracroft is the best one due to the intricacy of the details. Rin Penrose will be the breakout. Enna 2 will be the flop.

Ami / Mami futami : their only difference is the size of their side tails.

I would even add that even twins from different gender is great if you keep small differences in design, just as rin and len kagamine. But when there are too many differences between "twins", that's a fucked up design because it's useless to do twins as characters if you're not willing to keep to the gimmick.

EN3 has good models with plenty of variety but with a unified fantasy design style. Some of them are sexy but in a moderate way that doesn't feel like their character wandered in from a harem anime. Kronii and Ina often feel out of place in their own gen collabs because they have over the top coomerbait outfits. Cover held back with EN3 and management clearly didn't want any more fights over redesigns. In the long term that should mean that EN3 will get along better with management.

The problem is that the designs don't go enough in one way or the other. There is not enough homogeneity to make them seem a cohesive unit, but they're not distinct enough to stand out on their own.

Shiori and Nerissa especially. The two together, without the rest of the generation, look dope if you're into the edgy tech wear thing. Add the rest of their genmates and they look infinitely worse, both individually, as a duo, and as a group.

A better way to have gone about it would be to double down on the chuuni. Make black/monochrome the main color of the entire generation, and make each one stand out on the secondary colors. Less white on the twins. It just clashes way too much with the darker colors of the other three. Make Fuwa's secondary color different so she doesn't clash with Nerissa's.

Bijou doesn't even look like she belongs in the same gen as the other 4. Honestly, she needs a redesign from the ground up
