To this day I still have no idea why people thought it was THAT bad, and rewatching it with her for her 1-year anniversary justified my opinion. She was sleep deprived, had too much caffeine, and had to stretch it to an hour, but she showed she had a fun, joking personality and that she had some technical experience by playing around with her model in real time. The Nippon girls? It's not them lmao, first of all, their english was alright but nowhere near good enough for an "English" branch, Kiara is ESL but she's way way better at english than the twins were. And second, we know for a fact that the designs of the chubbas are done long before the talents are cast and the talents have no say on the design at least not until they're settled in the character and they start influencing alt outfits. But the initial concepts are 100% on Cover and the girls are assigned to the characters.
