no way to test either way and it depends what you are doing and what the viewers are looking for. there's some pockets of twitch that can get you viewers just by streaming the category.

perceived a lot of small streamer watchers are also on twitch, but i have no grasp on youtube at all. I feel like it would be hard to stumble upon any channel and twitch sidebar does recommend smallwr channels. As for growing, you basically do everything and hope you get lucky, I've been doing shorts and twitter but never converted it to viewers, someone else does nothing and still blows up. In the end doing networking and content reps is like lottery tickets. You can buy a lot but it's still unlikely and someone might get lucky with just one. There's obviously a science to networking and some people prove that there's a formula (people like ludwig), but a lot of people don't feel confident going down that route.

Any way other than just hitting the stream button is good, you can build an audience through shorts and reaction videos before you start to stream.

I've talked to several people who have tried both and they generally recommend twitch. A lot of it just comes down to raiding. Being able to raid others is a huge help in meeting other streamers, and that is impossible on yt until you get to 500 subs which takes forever.

There are also just way more small streamers on twitch for you to interact and network with and there is more of a culture of small streamers helping each other out. On YouTube it's rather hard to actually find a lot of 1 views that might be willing to network with you. Are there even that many even there? It's hard to say because YouTube doesn't even give you the tools to find them. At least twitch lets you sort low to high.

Actually obs wouldn't be able to have this functionality, but the elaborate version is setting up a cloud server that compiles your footage and has a delay set that way, so when your internet cuts out the cloud service can still send the footage to keep the stream running. This is usually done for IRL streams, but can work with any stream obviously. This is pretty advanced though and probably isn't the most user-friendly to set up.

the easiest way is to angle the mic so it isn't exactly in front of you. the things you say are getting scattered like a cone, but your breathing will be most audible directly in front of you. if you are just overall a loud breather I'm not exactly sure how to mitigate that but in either case having the mic above your nose can help too. try different positions and record yourself. if your mic is good enough you can also position it a couple cm away from your face altogether, it will change how you sound though.

I hope I can word this without being hard to read... and I'm not very much of a social butterfly myself so take what I say with a grain of salt.
I think the reason that social isolation happens is because of bad interactions with people.

If you don't put yourself out there at all, you won't meet people and you will be alone. This one is obvious.

If you put yourself out there... but you interact with people who aren't open to new friends, then it won't work. This happens with some people especially if they're older.

The first impression is very important, if you introduce yourself and say something rude, dumb, etc. Then you get the halo/horns effect and they won't be interested in getting to know you... as someone without strong social skills, this is a killing blow for me.

There's alot of bad traits that inhibit making friends, whether it's being super negative or too aggressive or other stuff like that, it instantly drives people away.

There are alot of subtle social mistakes/faux pas that only become obvious once you've learned them... things like saying something insensitive to someone and upsetting them, or not recognizing someones intentions/feelings, etc.
I burned alot of friendships in the process of learning these mistakes.
I think in my own case, through years of trial by fire I have learned to avoid doing most of the major social mistakes that will instantly ostracize me from socialising. I have learned to make an amiable first impression, to be chill and happy, to not say dumb things that drive people away.

I see you made some social mistakes, and it drove people away from you. It is very difficult for people who don't care much for you to forgive you. There's alot of people who will never speak to me again in my past, but those were valuable lessons I had to learn.

The reason I think people are hesitant to give people a second chance when they offer a bad first impression, is that they fear it is a red flag of deeper issues that will make them a bad fit for a friendship.

For example let's say someone starts an interaction with them just complaining about how shitty their neighbor is because they always mow the lawn at 6am. The instant impression the other person is going to get is that this guy is a debbie downer who complains about petty things and that talking with them will not be fun.

It's important to be basically chill, happy, relaxed, easygoing. Don't be negative, aggressive, don't make hot takes, etc.
Of course.... it's not always easy to know what actions and behaviours are bad ones until you've made the mistake of doing them and see the result.

I've always been pretty weird, and it's easy to take it out of context or just extrapolate to draw a conclusion on the person. Hello! First time poster!
I'm an aspiring VTuber and established content creator. I mainly do anime-esque art and sometimes I will stream myself playing games. I have 2k followers on Twitter, but I manage to cap out at 5 viewers on a good day.

The content I stream ranges from streaming my art process, or playing games. A game I have on my VODs for example is Wizard 101, which doesn't seem like an issue because I had a lot of unique chatters that day.

I don't like to think I can't fill dead air, or I don't have the "personality" for streaming. I enjoy streaming, I just don't know if I'm doing something wrong.
Any advice?

One way you can grow it's by building connections to other streamers by using your art as a bridge if art is something you enjoy and are passionate about.
Games are fine but it depends on which games you play as popular games give you little potential grow since there are bigger streamers they can watch, choosing cult games that harbor dedicated communities can be a good choice as they tend to raid other people streaming the same game they are passionate about but those games also have less people potential to be seen by others.
Also raiding and getting raid it's extremely important for grow and exposure early on.

I think the best way to use art to get viewers is by making fan art of other small vtubers. (I would say males with 1-20 ccv especially get very little art and are good subjects) These small vtubers often will rarely get art so they will enjoy it greatly and will often raid you to return the favor of you doing art of them. Then you can slowly get followers off of these raids. If you really want to game it hard you can focus on doing art of chuubas that tend to end their streams at around the time you are streaming, sullygnome has a tool for finding streamers like this.

For this strategy quantity is usually more important than quality. Try not to spend way too much time on each piece of art so you can spread your net wide. When you start getting bites you can go back and either make higher quality pieces of art or develop the old ones more to set the hook.

Skeb is your best friend then. I have this one male VTuber mutual that commissions a lot of artists on Skeb and a lot of artists on there draw men for fairly cheap.
However, Skeb is a request site. There is no communication outside of you sending your reference and specific details. If this isn't your style, I'd avoid it.

Otherwise, my mutual draws men really well and opens commissions often! Also draws guns if you're into that kind of thing. Her art style is very versatile.
