I watch mostly Hololive. They have quite good talents good chemistry and are the leading corpo. But because of that I'm also interested in what they *should* be able to deliver. But they underperform and look like their staff is just mediocre skilled at maximum.
Taking a look out of the Hololive box I clearly see that there are a lot VTubers out there that would deserve more attention for their efforts. I mean, you surely remember Gura's update where the rigging was just fucked up. I don't know how much influence Gura herself has on that work but for a live2d it looked unprofessional. Both, Cover and Gura should have rejected it.
I don't care how much external service a VTuber bought if the overall package is fine. You cannot spend a million to compensate that you're an uninteresting streamer.
And completely different, because I'm interested in the technology, is the case of Neuro-sama. She has a quick development and is so advanced that Vedal can really be proud of what he has achieved.
tl;dr: I'm interested in the technology. Fuck corpos. Fuck Hololive for being stingy and low performing yet still successful. Fuck other corpos such as Nijisanji for just pumping out shitloads of unsuccessful VTubers.

I'm not sure about that. I'm not a fan of CGI anime. At least years ago it often looked terrible. Either too fluid or the chopped frame rate made it look weird. You know what I mean. Even the newest Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi has this 3D look that just looks different from the anime.
But it really depends on the content if the model is important or not. As it was said: Filian built her character around falling over in VR. She's walking around a lot and plays with the 3D space. With 2D avatars... well here are your props that wiggle with your movement...
Sitting around and just playing a game isn't really adding anything if it's in 3D. That's how the content differs. But there's a huge potential to improve and put more emotion into other types of streams. Reconsidering everything: You got me. VTubing is not about anime or Japan, it's about a virtual character. Regardless if it's 2D or 3D. Play with what you have. Cover's biggest ace up their sleeve is HoloEarth (lol). In 5 years maybe we'll get the first concert where people can virtually attend. But the current state of the game isn't much more than a sandbox with very limited interaction possibility. Yeah and Cover or the VTubers go for cheap solutions such as Mocopi. They could do what people would expect but from the leading company but money flows in through Youtube and cooperation and even small steps forward get rewarded by fans. Fuck it: It works!
