kek, I love how I took one look at the python script I cobbled together from two different 4chan scrapers, couldn't be arsed to put it in a proper loop itself...so I just had a bat script loop it instead with a fucking GOTO like it's 1991
actually worked out rather conveniently - since it was "mindful" of what it had last downloaded with .here files or something it made in the same folder, it didn't re-download anything ever, and I never had to worry about an errant memory leak or something in someone else's Python code because it ran, scraped, and then closed out completely

only downside is that jdupes is comparing file checksums, so things like JPG/PNG versions of the same images will not match - nor will a catbox/4chan version of the same PNG. for that you'd have to use DupeGuru there are many file deduplicators - DupeGuru
is convenient. I had another one that actually kept an SQLite database for making future scans of the same directory trees easier but I'll be fucked if I can remember what it's called. hell I probably still have it downloaded

Did a few quick tests comparing latent (top) vs 4x-animesharp (bottom), which is my favourite of the non-latent upscalers I've tried so far. If there's other ones you like I'd totally be down to try those too, not as another comparison image but just for using them personally here and there. I didn't curate the comparison pics at all either so some of them sort of suck
Latent definitely is more likely to mess up hands, especially when holding things is involved, but I prefer the way it does finer details / smaller objects, for example the leaves in the images on the right.
If the image composition can somehow hide the hands or I just get lucky with hands then I'll prefer latent, I usually only switch off it if it's messing up the image too much.

Anyways, is it an AOM2 mix of some sort? That was when I actually still used latent sometimes. With the cockamamie merge I use now, using latent completely destroys the heavier line-art when I'm not prompting it away or using a LoRA that might conflict with it
I've been using 4x-UltraSharp almost exclusively, at 0.5 denoising strength. Latent @ 0.5 with 2x upscale kept giving me blurry images - and at 0.6-0.7 it was making horror shows - plus at that high a denoising strength - the upscaler itself hardly matters the reason the Github comparison I made was ultimately flawed. 0.5 would've been more sensible. comparing everything at 0.7 with xformers on = comparing RNG, kek. It hasn't worked right for me since...January? But I admittedly have not tried it in a while.

Yeah. I did it because I couldn't figure out if there was a way to get x/y/z plot to change both the upscaler and the denoising strength at the same time. Latent needs to be a bit higher since if I turn it down to where I have the non-latent upscalers it's all blurry and blocky. And if I turn non-latent up too high the edges on everything get too sharp for my taste. I tend to use latent at around 0.6 and non-latent at 0.45-0.5.
The two left pics are CreamyPesto412nuhard (6c6b7fe490) and the two right pics are CoreMixPure-hll3.1 (e27eaece39), I have no idea what the ingredients of either of them are, I just grab random models off here occasionally and hoard them forever and then just swap occasionally when I want something fresh

With the way I mix everything eventually looks samey, but for very minor details. Things like how lines are draw, a slight tint in skin colour, how soft shadows are over the skin. There are a few outliers that pull themselves away from the rest though. So far BreakDomain is winning but Disillusion also has a point above the rest.

Left - 4x-UltraSharp, 0.5, 15 steps
Middle - Latent (bicubic antialiased), 0.66, 30 steps (ie. as if steps was left blank - this may be suboptimal, but it was how I always used the latent upscalers)
Right - giving 4x-UltraSharp the same 0.66/30 steps
Once you're past ~0.5 - the upscaler matters far less than you think - the point I was trying to make, lol. 4x-UltraSharp still gave her those extra tears, because latent didn't do that, the extra denoising strength did. The "charm" of using the ESRGAN upscalers, at least to me, IS being able to turn it down - you get to "keep" more of the original gen. But that's just like, my opinion, man. You do you. (*´ε`*)ﾁｭｯﾁｭ they're more useful on 3DPD btw. and creamypesto has more of AOM2's 3DPD mixed back into it - even if you don't see it in the gens. may also contribute to getting better results with it idk. meanwhile I mixed all the things that'd give me vibrant colors and thick lines together, haachama cooking style.
