To undersstand this board you need to understand vtubers.
Vtubers combine the obviously artificial nature of anime with the real human aspect of celebrities plus the tribality of team sports.
They are built to stir drama, drive fans parasocial and create feuds.
Now consider that in this day and age most people are drawn to a few big social media platforms and many want attention and validation, they want to be someone, so they often use similar accounts across platforms.
This means Bob is Bob on twitter, discord, youtube, twitch.
A big part of vtuber consumption is the secondary appeal of their community and their content. Many fans want to be noticed by their oshi, or stand among the rest of the fans somehow, or they just want to belong.
Now because vtubers often interact there's also a very delicate sort of social structure among them, it's still a very immature community where everyone wants to get along and there's still just one "the vtuber community" out there and no one wants to be rejected from it, vtubers police their own tone a lot and their fans. Those who don't risk becoming outcasts.
This presents us with two opposing forces:
People who have a lot of negative things to say out of nit picking, tribalism or drama.
And their desire to still remain as good well behaved members of their community.
How could someone be a good well behaved fan with no problematic opinions while also expressing their disgust towards a vtuber or mocking their shortcomings?
Well, on the one site that has no account of course!
That's /vt/'s function in the world.
