It may be more cultural, or just who holo hires outside of JP. The JP girls all have fairly well developed fake voices, a long history with anime of some form, and seem to enjoy the acting part. They're better because they're having fun. They also have cool workmates and organize events and work in a much better environment. EN seem to mostly hate having to play a character and don't like what they were given. They're just giving us mostly the normal person at this point. There's also a real lack of EN unity. A lot of the interactions are what made the past better. Even if they aren't lazy, they tend to work alone. I don't know what the fuck Lina or Nene really want. I know what their characters say. And that's how I want it. I don't want a fucking lecture when I'm watching entertainment.

hololive JP is more popular because of cultural differences and demands. Expecting anime women playing games to compete with streaming monoliths of the west is a fevered dream of english JP watchers because they think EN girls could ever get on the same level but the reality is most stream watchers in the west just arent that into vtubers. Sure they once did compete in 2020 during one of the largest shut downs of society and during a viral craze of vtubing. That fad has passed and so did those audiences moving on, what you see is closer to what market caps for vtubing in the west currently is.

Check her channel and watch her streams, she is the most consistant HoloEN that have good Holo numbers, never complains or attacks her fans and is actually happy when streaming. I mainly watch HoloJP and shes the closest I could get from HoloEN that resembles it.

EN's biggest issue has always been consistency. They lack the will or ability to "show up" on a regular basis. Fauna increased viewership because she was literally the only one streaming on any kind of schedule. The other girls were all over the fucking place, and still are.

No one can keep up with an oshi who's stream times are so damn random. They can try, but something always gives.

JP on the other hand? They stream multiple times a week at the same start times. They know how to work.

The EN audience is still around, some have chased indies or went back to flesh streamers, but you would be surprised how many viewers have started watching the JP Holos even if they can't understand half of what they are saying.

Again with this cope. Idol culture wasn't responsible for Hololive's success. I can't speak for within Japan, but on the international stage it was funny clips like Miko saying 'nigger' or Matsuri lusting over lolis that propelled these girls into the limelight.
You and seem to be under the impression that this "illusion" you speak so highly of that draws in the audience is that of a glorified e-girlfriend, when the main draw to Hololive and vtubing as a whole was fun and funny shit and (presumably) cute girls with cute avatars having a good time.

The HoloJP approach just doesn't work with western audiences OP. Look at the clips from Offkai, a good 60-70% of the people there are some kind of Asian. Most chuubas make more in superchats from SEA than from the whole of Europe. There just isn't a market for what you're suggesting.
