Liquid gallium seemed like a good candidate for robot blood, but its wetting properties seem like they might be a problem for biochemistry. However, it turns out pressure can change the boiling point of water (300C at 100 atmospheres), so maybe the blood vessels could be pressurized instead? Would help move nutrients around faster too.

Archive in Space Archive Under Miscellaneous as "HoloNiJo, Lamy Gang Overview"
Excerpt Below:
>The Lamys were originally a small subculture of gene-sculptors who believed that by embodying the personification of Lamy, one was brought closer to the concept of Lamy as a whole, eventually leaving no distinguish between the divine idea of Lamy and the physical form of Lamy. While this idea is particularily religious in its conotation, those who underwent /become/ gene operations were largely considered minor celebrities afterwards. While some considered it minorly saceligious, in those civilizations whom corporations held immense sway the image of Lamy was incredibly provitable, especially for fashion brands. Sponsors who were able to get the image of a goddess to push their brands found a sharp rise in sales and any controversy that arose from the more risque products was always met with an equal rise in sale and stock, Lamys were more or less identified by their association with brands and several Lamy celebrities began to distinguish themselves through their brand identities and association and the extremely minor differences in phenotype between each. La Lami was a Lamy who was incredbily popular amongst the Shishiron and had their own brand of high-proof vodka called "Lion On Ice", Lamiel the Lover was a popular Lamy in an ASMR Hostess Bar, and Lamy Lamington ran the popular sitcom, "Lamy, Lamy, and Me" with two other Lamys which ran for five seasons and was nominated for the Kino awards.

geno augmentation is basically just any augment that changes your genetic make-up
pheno augmentation changes you physically but leaves your genetic make-up the same. Keep in mind these were mostly just classifications pulled out of nowhere.
Also much appreciated. HoloX doesn't really have any lore but in terms of Vitubia that could just be part of their whole secret society gimmick.

Alright, I think I know what I'm gonna do. The mecha blood will probably be a superheated water-based solution with large amounts of heavy metal salts dissolved within. It seems to be doable engineering-wise to have the blood vessels pressurized to above dozens of megapascals, which allows high performance mecha to function on supercritical blood, which sounds cool and allows fun bits of chemistry.
The main challenge will be to harden complex organic molecules against the high temperatures, but it seems like there are protein folding tricks and hyperthermophilic adaptations to help with that, can even use standard DNA.

>>51673778
I think there may still be liquid metal involved for some thermal processes and to work nicely with Curie radiators, since it has a higher thermal capacity. But the supercritical water also has a great thermal conductivity, low viscosity as well as the chemical properties, so I think it will be better for the general purpose blood (moving nutrients, proteins around and wound repair mainly). The liquid metal might be more analogous to the lymphatics (interstitial fluid) of the body.
The high pressures do mean the vascular system will need a lot of strong valves, to shut off circulation when there is damage or an amputation.

Sorry I did not reply earlier, had a busy few days away from home.

Thanks a lot for writing a response!

Yeah, as I said, since I am looking at the text through my own lens I would be making erroneous assumptions. Its nice to see such attention to detail as you taking into account species psychology in writing.

I do relate with the lexicon issue, and I too often find myself repeating words. I have noted that as simple things as simply omitting the word works sometimes, if you can re-format the rest of the sentence to flow well. I.e., one wouldn't go "the faint sensation of the needle", but "the faint prick of the needle". One could even remove the mention of the needle altogether if the existence of the needle is established in a previous part, since the descriptor "prick" is already related to the idea of needles and sharpness; Mentioning a prick when the existence of a needle doing an action has been established will automatically remind the reader of a needle.

the above example does not relate to your text though, since in your text the sensation of the needle was not exactly a prick, as far as I can tell.

Also, one could establish an association with a sensation and a descriptor, and then simply use the descriptor to imply the existence of the sensation as well. I suppose one could chain these together and make a sensation description chain, where the new sensation is always established in the previous part. I would love to write an example but I do not want to come up with a scene rn, and it is purely theoretical anyways, I dont think I've used something like that myself that often if at all.

Descriptors beginning with "as if" are also something that one should think about. I use it a bit too much, i think. In a lot of cases, one can completely cut that portion off, and sometimes they should since this word structure distances the reader from the image you are trying to paint. You can compare this with these two sentences.

>It was as if tendrils of cold fire were growing through his veins, crystallizing into invisible shards of glass shredding his insides.
>Tendrils of cold fire grew through his veins and crystallized into invisible shards of glass that shred his insides.
It might be just me, but the bottom one is much more evocative as a descriptor.

I would personally be tempted to go pretty crazy with that, and write something along the lines of "Jagged shards of cold fire flowed into him through the injection site. With each heartbeat the blazing cold splinters were pushed (further into his limbs and) deeper into his flesh, until the fire had saturated his entire body."
This descriptor is probably absolutely horrible to use regarding flow, and it isn't as precise as the ones above, but I really like the picture it paints. Although, you can clearly see in it the problem I have with overloading descriptions.

>Theme park ride
Based taking inspiration from irl. I have done so myself as well at times.
Is ichorite some real thing? I have never heard of it before myself.

>AI probing MC's mind
I did pick up on that. It gave the AI a slight hostile/creepy vibe, which works pretty well.

Dont take the issues too seriously, these are just things i have decided to nitpick on. I would love to hear your thoughts on my thoughts on this and whether it works at all for you, its not like the style i like is the only valid one.

Ill try to read more of your stuff as I get the motivation to read and write. Thanks again for responding!

It might sound like I’m on the spectrum but when I first started writing for /vnug/ I spent a lot of time thinking about how to justify the existence of non-humans in the setting (it was before Palkyrie was designed) and I figured that if we’re to be non-humans then we should actually act non-human instead of being humans with funny animal bits and verbal tic. That’s why whenever Palkyries (and maybe elves) show up in my writing I try my best to emphasize those attributes. Part of me feels I should go all the way to put them in uncanny valley but I don’t know if that reflects the fanbase well
I’ll take note of the sensation and the descriptor suggestion! For the needle part I guess it’s more like getting plugged in than getting pricked since the insertion hole’s already there. I guess humans do plug holes at times but I don’t know if those applies. I guess that would give the human-machine interaction thing a whole new dimension
Ichorite’s something I come up with but I’m sure there are real life and fictional analogues. I know artificial blood’s a thing and combat drugs have been around as long as combat and drugs are. I guess it’s kinda like the stimpacks from Starcraft
Feedback is always welcome and appreciated! Sometimes I wish I can give more feedback to people as well

Hi. I've been away from the thread again. Sorry for late response. I think what /nasa/ could benefit from is some form of navy culture since space vessels aren't too different from navy vessels. You could look up the Royal British Navy. If you want to go further then there's Greek seafaring. Which also has influences from Egypt.

I had ideas for a space colony called Oven. My idea is a planet-sized space station that has the climate of an Earth world. Sanalites would leave for other worlds to bring back their findings for the best ingredients in the galaxy. Now that I think about it its similar to the Age of Exploration where everyone started navy wars over herbs, spices, and tea from Asia. You can fit this idea however you like. We did retcon Lammington into a giant space-ship instead of a station I think.

Well I suppose the difference between a space station and space ship is the size and speed. I digress. If you want to save Oven for AU then that's fine. In Astrogirl the Sanalite bread dogs came from Bread Planet. So it could be that or it could be another world. I want to say Sanalites have been in space for so long that the records of their homeworld has been lost. Which is why I created Oven as the new home world. Alternatively Oven can be an over-developed Earth-world where the planet is one giant space port with space elevators and rings. Do what you want with this idea. Or you can make a new homeworld.

I was thinking about a scenario where you encounter an alien girl. She cannot speak. She has no vocal cords. She cannot hear. She has no ears. She can send light signals through her tentacles to communicate. You cannot interpret complex light patterns with your human eyes because you cannot see some frequencies of light. So you would need to create a system of communication and understanding.

Alien cannot interpret words. Just as you cannot interpret the complex analogue color changes patterns on her tentacles at first. Perhaps both of you understand syntax and patterns?

The synchondrion is the powerhouse of the Daemon. Or rather, of the Daemon's cells.

The synchondrion has evolved immensely throughout the long and hectic history of Daemon bioengineering. The very first Daemons simply used the natural mitochondria present in most Vitubia-borne lifeforms. This type of energy was serviceable for these early developments, and made the resulting systems highly flexible; they could be fueled with any calorie-dense organic matter found in-situ. ATP remained the main power source of Daemons for centuries, even as internal combustion engines, turbines and nuclear reactors displaced them as more performant options for machinery. Even today, there exist Daemon which function using only well optimized mitochondria as a power source; such machines are useful in situations where in-situ resupplying may be the only option.

However, using this strategy does put an unyielding ceiling on those platforms' performance. The power and energy density of mitochondria is limited by the chemical reactions involving the ATP molecule, and the only way to break those limits is to use a different reaction.

This is where the synchondrion comes in. The first synchondria were prokaryotes modified through directed evolution to harness the combustion of long-chain hydrocarbon directly instead of making use of ATP hydrolysis. Achieving this breakthrough propelled a takodachi bioengineering company to cluster-wide fame within years of the first prototypes' unveilings. Said company, Tako Eats, leveraged its bleeding edge equipment and expertise in bio-tissue synthesis to design the genome of the novel Mechanopyrus euryarchaea. This gene-modded descendant of Methanopyrus was originally notable for its exceptional resistance to high temperatures, with its home habitat being found in the hydrothermal vents of the Ailivian Ocean. These thermophilic properties allowed it to moderate and survive these more energetic reactions.

This breakthrough powered Daemons throughout the Nebula for centuries, as direct combustion led to a hundred fold increase in power density for the machine. It's also during this period that the first airborne, and then spaceborne Daemons were created. As with mitochondria, the synchondrion were distributed throughout all the tissues of the machine, providing mechanical or thermal energy to the limb's movements, propulsion systems, or even weapon platforms where applicable.

The synchondrion design industry is marked by its shifts in paradigms and power dynamics. Tako Eats did not remain the top dog of the field for long, though the title passed through its tentacles many times in the ages that followed. For example, GuiltCorp infamously rose to prominence by selling advanced synchondria genomes and stem cells to Deadbeat insurgents during the Tile wars, gaining a lucrative customer but setting the then Tako Alliance against them.

The next major leap forward was that which turned Daemons from an important part of the Deadbeat industrial complex into its very backbone, and the system to build all its top-of-the-line platforms on: nuclear synchondria. Nuclear synchondrion required vast advances in bioengineering. After all, with their use the tissues of the Daemon became radioactive, hyper-energized and potentially extremely hot. These new conditions asked even more thermal tolerance and denaturation hardening out of the cells than ever before, and entire new chemical pathways.

However, once these challenges were tackled, the reward was great. Fissile material offered tremendous amounts of power compared to older technologies, expanding the breadth of operation that could be undertaken by the Daemons significantly.

>

Got half a draft for the next part with way more nuclear physics than anyone sane would like to see... But I guess I might as well go all the way.

In the realms where Daemons dwell,
A tale unfolds, a story to tell.
Of synchondrion, powerhouse divine,
That fuels the Daemon's cells, in design.

Once, ancient beings, primitive in form,
Relied on mitochondria, to perform.
Calorie-dense matter, their sustenance drew,
Flexibility reigned, a power anew.

Through centuries, ATP their source,
Amidst advancing technology's course.
Yet, limits constrained their potent might,
A different reaction, sought the light.

Behold, synchondria, prokaryotes born,
Evolved through genius, to be adorned.
By combustion of hydrocarbons grand,
Unveiling power in the Daemon's hand.

Tako Eats, a company of fame,
Genome synthesis, their claim to acclaim.
Mechanopyrus euryarchaea's birth,
Thermophilic wonders, a power's worth.

Across the Nebula, a century's reign,
Direct combustion, a power insane.
Airborne and spaceborne, Daemons soared high,
Synchondrion pulsing, in every limb's sigh.

Paradigm shifts, the industry's tide,
Tako's reign faltered, others beside.
GuiltCorp's temptations, a lucrative sway,
Stirring rivalries, in the Tile wars' fray.

Nuclear synchondria, a leap profound,
Daemon's backbone, on which all was bound.
Bioengineering's mighty quest,
Cells aglow, radioactive zest.

Thermal tolerance, cells withstanding,
Hyper-energized, their strength expanding.
Chemical pathways, a new domain,
Daemons embraced, the nuclear flame.

Fissile power, unleashed its might,
Expanding horizons, a glorious sight.
Daemons emboldened, in realms untold,
Their synchondrion burning, radiance bold.

Oh, synchondrion, engine supreme,
Igniting the Daemon's wildest dream.
From ancient mitochondria to nuclear grace,
A poetic dance in the cosmos' embrace.

In the Nebula's realm, a tale of desire,
A love triangle stirred, emotions afire.
Three souls entwined, bound by fate's decree,
Let me tell you the story, of Tessa, Xander, and Lee.

Tessa, a beauty with synchondrion ablaze,
Her Daemon's power, a radiant haze.
Her heart beats strong, a fiery core,
A testament to Tako's legacy and more.

Xander, a rebel, with GuiltCorp's dark thread,
Synchondria's secrets, in his hands, he spread.
His Daemon roared, with nuclear might,
A tempting force, in the dead of night.

And Lee, a wanderer, free as the wind,
Whose Daemon's essence, from nature's kin.
Mitochondria's whisper, in every stride,
A humble power, in the world they reside.

Tessa's heart fluttered, when Xander drew near,
His nuclear synchondrion, her senses could hear.
The forbidden allure, a dangerous game,
Temptation's flame, fueled by fame.

But Lee, with gentle touch, showed her the light,
In the Ailivian Ocean, where love takes flight.
Their Daemons danced, in harmony they swirled,
A tender union, in a vast, vibrant world.

Oh, the threads of love, entangled and torn,
In the tumultuous Nebula, a story was born.
Tessa's heart torn between passion's extremes,
The power of nuclear and nature's serene.

Torn between Xander's touch, so electric and wild,
And Lee's embrace, gentle as a child.
Whose love would prevail, whose soul would win,
In this cosmic dance, a tale of love and sin.

Through battles waged, alliances tried,
A tale of love's struggle, ne'er to subside.
GuiltCorp and Tako clashed, in furious glee,
While Tessa, Xander, and Lee yearned to be free.

In the end, as stars whispered their tale,
Tessa chose love, and the wind did prevail.
Lee, her true love, in his arms she found peace,
Synchondrion's power, their love's sweet release.

Xander, though wounded, in darkness he stayed,
His nuclear might, in the shadows it laid.
A reminder of choices made in desire,
In the annals of love's tale, forever to admire.

And so, in the Nebula's vast expanse,
The love triangle ended, in a cosmic dance.
Tessa, Lee, and Xander, their paths now untwined,
Love's echoes lingered, as the universe aligned.

In this tale of love's embrace and strife,
Synchondrion's legacy, the thread of life.
A testament to power, choice, and desire,
In the Nebula's realm, where love's flames inspire.

To summarize:
Tessa, Tako Eats Inc.-aligned pilot, fighting for the Takodachi alliance. Xander, on the side of the Deadbeat insurgents in a machine powered by GuiltCorp tech; and Lee, some guy who has a basic sturdy machine to do his job in the nature with, possibly has sapling ancestry. They go through a whole-ass anime of drama and war (possibly written by Okouchi or Sumizawa), and eventually the easy-going peace seeker Lee wins out over the passionate and powerful Xander retires to the backstage.
This makes a remarkable amount of high-level sense, kinda reminds me of DitF...
