Scenario 2: subs cull happened abruptly over few days or weeks. It’s less likely that people’s interests vanished so quickly to the extent they don’t bother to resub within days.

If sub cull happened over a short period of time (days/weeks), and disinterested people decided to leave and not to resub, this would be reflected by a matching decrease in vod views. If the decrement didn’t proportionally match the people who decided not to resub, it proved the people weren’t disinterested and left. And sub culls is real.
