I thought it was pretty good, like many have said the MV was absolutely fantastic. Outside of parts of the chorus, she sounded great. Somehow these fotm cover songs never really grab me though and this is no different, I might listen to it a couple more times but not much beyond that.
While we're discussing stuff like this though does anyone else notice that she does this weird thing with her voice when she sings live? It's hard to explain, but it's like she's forcing her voice to sound more "powerful" or something and it ends up sounding unnatural. I like the breathiness but maybe unnecessary in that quantity.
She did a great job with the spoken word / rap segments, which most covers have handled really poorly.
Thrilled that it's the JP version, given the knowledge it couldn't be her own EN version.
Main wish would be changing the key to fit her range, as the struggle was real.
Blown away by the MV, which has for sure helped to elevate it.

Imperfect, but it's got a lot of her unique flairs and strengths infused that makes it stand out from the giant crowd of covers. I'm really proud of how it's turning a lot of heads in the JP community in particular.

I was thinking about it and Mori’s self produced cover MV’s have all been way better than anything UMG gave her. Even Salamander being mostly static with good art was better than the 3D MV’s imo.

Listening to it again in the morning with fresher ears, I still believe the Idol cover to be very good. If I were to try and deliver a more substantive critique with my limited musical knowledge, I would say I wish Mori’s vocals had more fuller tones behind them. They have a breathy and airy quality in the cover, and while I don’t think it’s bad, I believe if she gave the notes more support it’d really elevate the cover to another level. I’d like to hear her do it again in a karaoke, but perhaps later on in it after she’s warmed up. The Stone Ocean OP she did I think arguably has a more difficult sequence to it’s own rather high note as a payoff, but Mori was adequately warmed up and feeding off chat’s energy and really killed it then.
