Am I missing something, or are you guys actually watching JP vtubers streams and not just subbed clips?

Sure I can sit and watch an EN girl's stream because they're speaking english, but how am I supposed to sit and watch a stream that I don't understand? I mean, I can tune in for like a minute just to watch them play, but I can't get much out of it because, again, I don't know what the fuck they're saying.

Fubuki might be one of the few exceptions because she is actually a gamer , but even then I stop after a little while, cus I'm just watching game footage with a fox in the corner making noises.

It's a shame though because the subbed clips are great and obviously I want to watch them live. Idk maybe I'm just not weeb enough to get it, maybe everyone else just likes listening to japanese and doesn't care if they understand.

1. Watch karaoke.
2. Watch them play games and make funny noises.
3. Watch their English Practice streams.
4. Watch Coco or Haachama.

Leave it as BG noise when I work, though with video games I tend to watch for the reactions. I know enough weeb to understand some of the exclamations, but I'm not /jp/ enough to understand chatrooms and discussions. Case in point, Botan's FPS skills.

There is a sizeable amount of HoloJP content that is EOP friendly. Karaoke, Among us with fans, english learning streams. Also Korone is quite the westaboo, her streams are a mix of simple japanese and broken english. Coco and Haato are HoloEN0

So? She still streams primarily in Japanese.

I tend to watch a clip, then try to watch the stream so I can hear the performers.

I am pretty bad with Japanese, but ID has a side effect of chatting a lot, so I'm learning some sentences at random like a gacha.

As the others have said, they usually just say basic JP gamer terms like "yabee" or "sugoi na" and other remarks. That's why girls like Noel who speaks Japanese more eloquently over simple remarks have relatively low EOP viewership. This works inversely with girls like Korone or Aqua, who use more relatively simple Japanese wording and alternative means of communication in their streams (like Aqua's autistic noises) to gain more EOP viewership.
That's my take on it.

>> No.509723

>>505664
Legit this. And if they are saying words it’s usually just a reaction to what is happening in the game. The only exception are talking only streams which I just ignore.
If you are an EOP you can just wait for translation clips. If they say anything substantial, it’s almost certainly clipped.

>> No.509799

If Cover ever works out that thing to live-translate it would be huge. Probably a ways off though and good luck getting it to work on streamers like Marine (talks super fast) or Korone (speaks with a heavy accent).
I don't know Japanese outside of a few words and phrases but there are still some channels I try to watch because I enjoy the character and hearing the girl talk. Or those rare times where they do try to speak English. If they're singing or playing a game that is easy to follow then even better.

If you wait a week then at least for some streams youtube will auto-generate CC and you can translate that. I think the streamer has to turn it on though because it doesn't work for all channels.
