I get that sort of error when I try to upscale past what my VRAM can handle. When you're idling, I don't think it's using it to do nothing, I think it is reserving it for use in your next generation. When you get an error that it tried to allocate 4GB and failed, it's not that it's getting in its own way, it's that it's using what it already has reserved and is trying to allocate yet another 4GB, which you don't have.

What resolution are you trying to generate at / upscale to? Can you generate a basic 512x512 with no upscaling?

Idiot with the 1070 from a couple days ago here and I've been playing with really low iteration counts. I've found that I can actually get passable results as low as 6 steps with CFG scale 3, DPM++2M Karras and Cre4msicle which I've been using locally when generating large batches and then picking the good poses to recreate.

I also made a paperspace to find out what happens at really high CFG scale and iteration count, but accidentally broke it somehow generating 100 rrats

Xformers fixed it! Or at least i managed a 1024x1024 image now, which wa simpossible the last time I loaded it just a couple of minutes ago. Downloaded xformers with the launcher, and enabled it in the .bat file.
It uses visibly less memory now in my task manager too.

Got a bunch of really good ones where unfortunately because of my prompting the guy shared her expressions, making the images completely un-fappable. Think I know how to avoid it now(though the fix is not included in these faceless ones), so at least I learnt something.

Thats so odd to me. the main thing I like about doing requests is changing a word in the prompt hitting generate and changing a word and seeing the different and then doing it for 7 mines and seeing were I ended up.. a batch of 5 only takes 25 seconds on my computer. I guess its completely different for alot of other people here

You will have all the speed. I have a 3080, but its someone elses computer because it started triping my 10 year old psu. I am borrowing a 2070 super. The batch of 4 at 512x768 while typing this Time taken: 20.76s. With a 3090 I would expect you could do 8 seconds
