I personally treat vtubing as a way to grow. As I develop my character so do I. I learn more things about myself and through putting effort into this hobby and the people that I come into contact I improve. My vtuber character has changed so much in the 2 years I've streamed and so have I.

No matter the success I've missed out on, I've gained something that I did not expect was possible. Some people look at my character and say "this doesn't suit you at all", but people who interacted with me on a more intimate level often end up saying "you and your character are one", this makes me more happy than anything. I'm looking forward to what this year has to offer to me. I want to explore the journey of my character together with my few viewers and see it through until the end.

I think streaming has been way more important to me than I initially anticipated and I'm pretty sure I don't yet know how much more important it will become to me. I don't know why my mind is fixated on something that seems like such a mundane hobby, maybe it's the mere action of slipping into another character as a way to discover yourself, like an actor. I don't know, it's pretty gay desu.

What's your audio interface? If it's something like the focusrite scarlett 3rd gen you'll need to buy a pre-amp as well. So it won't just be a $400 mic but also a $150 pre-amp or a better audio interface.
Can you upload an audio sample on catbox? It's probably not worth it unless you have money to spare and a passion for good audio.

Meanwhile I'm just getting some prep done to start streaming myself. My room is apparently slowly getting to the finish line when it comes to getting renovated so I should be able to move.

I'd assume I'm gonna start streaming in the next 2-3 years and just buying some games I'd stream plus a bit of set-up.

If you haven't already, I'd highly recommend getting your audio and scenes set up in OBS while you wait. It took me so much longer than expected with stuff like virtual cables, Reaper filters, and so on. You'll probably have to adjust some of it with your final setup (filters especially) but it might save you some frustration.

I do all of my filters in OBS with reaper plugins but I use Voicemeeter for piping the audio and sorting sources. OBS doesn't make a good replacement for virtual audio cables.

I used to use a headset mic and at the time a USB mic even was an upgrade! I use a fifine mic and it's definitely nothing fancy but streaming was and still is a very new learning experience for me! My microphone is definitely something I want to upgrade in the near future though.. I'll probably try to find a budget XLR setup or something. If someone has any suggestions also I'll consider. This is the one I used for the virtual cables stuff (it's free software). If you look up on YouTube "MarrowMage audio", he's a sound guy who does a 40 minute tutorial on mic and filter setup - it seems like a lot but I promise it's worth it. The Reaper plugins used in that tutorial are free as well.
