Well it's not like they did it for the hell of it. VShojo has basically no presence in Japan so they have to do something about it if they want to actually be a contender there. The correct solution would have been to hire a bunch of Japanese clippers to translate and shill them though. That's literally what Vei did three years ago when she became a small Japanese celebrity except her clips got translated all for free. When VShojoJP debuted Henya the chat was basically all English and the Japanese people started trickling in days later through word of mouth going around of Pikamee coming back, not because they were interested in VShojo.

It would have also been nice if literally any of their OG members spoke Japanese even at a basic gaijin retard level...
