The thing I appreciated early on with a StarsEN was that the content and tone reminded me of the much earlier days of male streamers back in the days preceding and leading into Twitch ~2010, before popular male streamers became so entrenched in Twitch culture and content became centered on low-effort drama, reacts and crude humor. It was the same corporate limitations and intent for clean-ish content that's still targeted to adults that have made Holo appealing to me.

So there definitely is a specific appeal that the idea of a Holopro-based male group fills, but it's an absolute niche. There is no inherent need for male vtubers as a differentiator from male streamers, and in the cases where that IS relevant (i.e. fujo-targeted content like Luxiem) StarsEN clearly had no intent of sailing those waters.
