Depends on the country and the type of mental ward.
For example in the USA and countries that align with US psych care norms you have two types:
Long term containment for those you can't release because they'll immediately cause shit for people who matter or have family who will pay for it.
Short term containment for people having a bad day and people who are insane but survived their encounter with the police.

The former just doses them up and leaves them to roam a few rooms for the majority of the day.
The latter doses them up a lot less and tries to do some very primitive therapy to see if they're just having a bad day or if they're going to go suicide by cop at some point.
Either way these people get dumped back on the street when they're so fried with drugs they're mellow enough for the staff to go "yeah totes cured"
then when the drugs wear off they go back to normal and either return to a normal life because they were fine just having a bad day. Or they go get themselves killed somehow because actually insane.

I kinda wonder how a timeline where she went back to Hololive would have been like, but maybe it's better for her to be indie, I don't know.

I am bipolar myself, at my worst every day I was one bad moment away from also jumping off but I was only at floor 5 so I knew from statistics that it was more likely I'd end up paralyzed than dead so I never did it, but I came very close.
Life was pain, constantly. Except during the mania periods, where everything was positive and motivating. I guess that's when she saw the messages and felt more positive.
I hope she's medicated and if I had to bet, she is.
Because medication really helps with this condition. It takes like a year or two for it to really take proper effect but it does help stabilize well after a while.
Maybe now she can be a vtuber more confidently without having to struggle so much with that condition.
