I only know one person that successfully went from zero to business with programming. They identified a niche that was woefully "mis"served not particularly underserved - lots of options, all the options are shit for various reasons when it came to software - something specific in healthcare doxxable.
All the software that was out there was either clunky - wasn't interoperable with the other bits of software they needed imaging + records + billing, etc. - or was only interoperable with outdated/shitty components. It's an industry mired with corruption, nepotism...ripe for someone "with a plan" to show up and fuck shit up.
They started a company with some VC from people they knew. Hired some pajeets, some admin, and 1-2 local leads. Had the locals rule the pajeets with an iron fist, to make sure it didn't end up just like the software they wanted to displace in the market.
Ended up working on it for 2-3 years but they made a turnkey solution that was up to date, performed well, had a good UI, etc. IIRC the people that invested were also IN that field, so they had a vested interest in it and were convinced on the merits of what homeboy was tryna sell them. They were his first customers. Word of mouth spreads fast in that industry, go to a conference or two and shill your shit. Have coffee with some suit at an insurance company and convince him to shill your shit too...before you know it, bam, Bob's your uncle.
I should see how he's doing...been a hot minute since I talked to that guy. Wouldn't be surprised if he sold out to one of the companies he was trying to compete with, kek.

He wasn't a programmer BTW. Didn't write a single line of code himself. He saw a "clear" to him problem and thought he knew how to solve it. And make money doing so.
