Have...you not looked at the prices for merch?
It is moderately priced. Its only the overseas markets that are getting fucked by shipping so the overall cost is extremely high.

Here is some napkin math to estimate how much the average Hololive streaming is making a year.

Gross profit is total revenue minus cost of sales. So total revenue (20451 mil yen) minus gross profit (9396 mil yen) gives us cost of sales (11055 mil yen). Cost of sales are all expenses are directly related to producing a good or service.

In slide 8, we can see the breakdown of cost of sales. Exact numbers are not shown but from eyeballing the bar graphs it looks like that performer remuneration makes up roughly 40%. This means around 40% of 11055 mil yen is paid to the talents. That is 4422 mil yen or 32,834,601 USD.

Dividing that by the 75 hololive talents, we get 437,794 USD per talent. However, this includes holostars so the average for the girls are likely a bit higher. It is also pretax of course.

Because I hate to break it to you, $23 USD is very reasonable for a plushie. But if your point was because of shipping that made it 'overpriced' - yeah...you aren't wrong. I even said that in my original post.
For the japanese market though, that shipping isn't going to be stupidly high, therefore, its moderately priced.

btw all these costs are what would be included in cost of sales listed here >>49264723. And since we obviously don't know platform fees or "cost of raw materials" we can't accurately estimate how much realistically went to the girls

Aren’t the plushies the size of a grown mans hand? $23 isn’t reasonably priced in any western country if it doesn’t have the brand name to back it up. Mario plushies go from $10-20 and Hololive ain’t no mario. Your average plushies range from $5-15, that said Hololive has their fans in a vice so any price is reasonable. Dakimakura’s aren’t normally $100 but it has gura’s face so it’s reasonable enough for me.

>> No.49272002

>>49271525
First platform cost of youtube ranges from low to 24% if you asked them, hosting the fan site would max out at $10k usd a year which should be the only platforms. More importantly you couldn’t accurately estimate because their percentages aren’t added the same. For example 3rd and 4th are 3.6 and 3.5% respectively meaning they made the company near the same in revenue. 80% of that for 3rd could be sponsors and just using their face for merch like Gura while 4th could be someone with a strong channel and heavily involved in their own merch line like Lamy. They realistically made the company near Identical revenue with 3 edging out but would be bringing home a vastly different paycheck.

This is just an example though Gura is almost certainly the lofty #1.
