This board is so disconnected from the outside world. It's like the Galápagos Islands of the vtuber community.

Doesn't even have to be anything negative. These rabid "fans" will bite at anything and anyone, including their oshi. It's like some mutant stan

Disagree. This board has the highest amount of containment leaking out there. People /here/ will literally celebrate those who break containment because they will reaffirm opinions of people /here/. You'll constantly find images posted in the catalog reposted on Twitter and comments from /here/ reposted in the YouTube comments section with thousands of up votes because 4chan went from having fight club rules like "don't talk about /here/ outside of /here/" to "if you constantly reference things /here/ we will celebrate you"

Despite this board being less popular than most discords the people /here/ are unironically starting to take over

this, in communities with social cache that also are literally built around orbiting people, and are usually modded on discord/reddit by the most-attached, most parasocial of the lot? you're guaranteed to have hugboxes, echo chambers etc. those are such trite common words but I don't know if I've ever seen them be so fucking fucking real other than in vtuber circles.

people in vtuber communities, given the chance, in their vying for approval/attention from that certain someone will gladly trip over each other to tear each other down. sociologically it's dudes feeling like they're competing for mates even though not a lot of mating is going on (unless the chuuba got groomed). only some of those dudes are given spears and the first thing they'll do is chuck them at the weakest newcomers to the tribe to try to prevent rivals from sprouting up.

the odds of it becoming a tribal circlejerk lorded over by the few top simps depend on how the chuuba/community is managed, like for example on the holo reddit only the girls and p-chan are mods essentially, they don't grant that power to random fans because they'll just abuse it. however the discords etc for shit tons of indies and I think a lot of small corpos do exactly this.

I've been here for over a decade anon. This board is the worst about people who take pride in breaking containment. Even shit like /a/ and /v/ stay more contained but because this hobby is still somewhat niche shitters from /#/s will literally go into comments sections of videos the catalog didn't like, post comments and then post screenshots of those comments to the catalog and go
>well would you look at that? Everyone agrees with me!!!
then they'll all rush to go like the comments to make it seem like it's totally genuine and totally not containment breaking shitters.

Most discords have like 2-10 people talking day to day in off topic blogfests, far as I've seen. The participation rate is ultra low regardless if there are thousands of people technically "there." People are generally sheepish about talking in too much detail about their thoughts on stream content, the chuuba's directions with it and so on for aforementione reasons of hugboxing and otherwise overbearing simp groomer mods being the standard.

So a thread with like 100 people actively talking about a chuuba, but it's all actual balls-to-wall direct discussion, fucking no holds barred opinions mask-off extreme love or hate, gets more progress done mentally for the participants in terms of actually having a meaningful look and review at what we're all doing here, both with chuubas piecemeal and as a meta concept/culture. Years of sunny picnic talk and meme spam in a chuuba discord can get literally no meaningful/deep/brutal-honest thoughts put out about the chuuba or vtubing vs a single day here, speaking from fucking experience here. You might become buddies with some of the other fans in the server and that's about it.

Here, it's the opposite, bonding is limited (it can still happen) but generally you get an overload of every opinion under the sun naked in your face, including near-guaranteed the ones you don't agree with mixed in. /vt/ can be unpleasant to use but it's a bucket of ice water for those unsatisfied with vtubers communities being blog clubs or kindergartens. I think the most secluded sheltered shitters need things like /here/ actually, the people who hate /vt/ the most probably are the ones who fucking -need- it the most, because they have the most fucking cloistered babyish mental states/attitudes and want vtubing to be their grooming life project or otherwise a fluffy mental opium for them - which is dangerous because these are the people who will have the hardest time getting over it whenever their oshi or company closes down in whatever time. /vt/ makes you much more realistic/down to earth.
