"Thor's Hammer" is a nice iconic one. Something more clinical like ELRP (Extremely Large Railgun Platform) can have a nice energy too. Most important is to get across the mindset of the people who designed the weapon. Are they utilitarian? Industrious? Intimidating? Chuuni?

If it's from the perspective of the crew, so a nickname basing it on the physical appearance might be a good idea. The temperament and other characteristics of the weapon too, how much maintenance it requires etc. So a big railgun that has a knife-like barrel might be humorously called butterknife or something like that. Or you can just choose a random cool sounding name and say it's the product name of the weapon.
