I just had a match were I was Botan fighitng a Coco, then we surprising switched and I was Coco while they played Botan. I won both times.
Reminder, Botan cannot handle getting pressured. She needs meter to get out of it, so stay close enough in her face so that she's forced to do her faster normals so she can't build meter to escape you easily.
That arc dragon can tank some hits so anytime Botan wants to "poi" or sniper you lower, it's dragon time.
Also your heavy kick is great midrange and remember to set Botan on fire to knock her down to either get closer or to get a AsaCoco plug in her asshole.
The Lion Bleeds, but you can't let up on her, being defensive is not really an options because she will eventually build enough meter to out damage you or escape in her shopping cart.
Alternatively, see >>48919311 if you want the easy way out. I'd say pick Korone and Ayame because I have trouble against them.

Please some one help me figure out sora. When you have someone out she feels great, but as soon as someone in it feels like there's no escape. Ayame in piticular appears to have a string into her overhead dive thing that's fucking PLUS ON BLOCK that then either let's her continue doing the same string or go for a grab, and sora doesn't have a fast enough normal to interrupt. Plz someone help.
Also some actual combo routes would be nice.

I'm not really experienced in fighting games, but the Heavy has a slight delay after it hits that allows you to throw a Light punch while crouching. Sora can Combo after that with L + M + H + Down H + Double Special + Dash into another L + M + H combo with possibly a special in it.

Suisei is a hyperagressive combo character. She excels on air mobility and has some disgusting combos from overheads. I would say she's a better Ayame.

On the second day I got my ass beat by a Suisei main more than 10 times, couldn't even breathe and the best I could do against him was 50% of his life. He was miles better than the Hard difficulty AI Suisei from the game.

Once an opponent is airborne you can do a special move that may extend the combo or end it off, depending on its properites, or if you time it right, you can start over by catching them mid-air and go Light, Medium, Heavy again. But the longer a combo goes on, the less damage each hit does AND the airborne opponent begins to fall faster, so it's good to route your chain to a special attack or super attack that will end off the combo. Satisfying you, and making your opponent salty or scared. At which point you run up to them and Grab their dumbass for predictably blocking.

*Note: that last step does not work on Unga-Bunga Ayame players as they never block, they will continue to mash buttons so don't even try to grab them. RIP Coco Mains.

From my personal experience,

Ayame matchup is around 5-5. Sora can keep her out pretty well with her great control over space in neutral. Sora's corner setplay is also very strong against Ayame because even Ayame uses her metered DP and hits Sora, she cannot fully continue the combo after because the note will pop her. The main struggle in that matchup is when she gets in and keeps you within a certain range where your L buttons won't reach her but your M/H buttons are too slow. Wish they gave Sora a DP or something too but can't let her have literally everything.

Suisei matchup on the other hand actually feels like a 7-3 or even 8-2 matchup in Sora's favor. I don't think Suisei has any meterless options against 5M > 6M > 236M in the corner. If she does 2M or 3M it trades in Sora's favor since Sora recovers from 2M/3M faster than Suisei recovering from being hit by 236M. At the proper range Suisei can't even punish Sora by jumping over 5M because her jump in normals are dogshit as j.M is almost purely an air-to-air normal and j.H has very little horizontal range. When it comes to neutral Suisei needs to really work hard to get in. I've perfected Suiseis several times by just playing neutral and not letting them get in. Since I initially started this game playing Suisei, it feels bad doing this to other Sui players but I do it to show how dogshit the character is gameplay wise in hopes they actually fix her.

In all honesty I'd say Sora's hardest matchup at the moment is Botan because Botan has really obnoxious air normals that are hard to anti-air with both 6L or 2H. The one that gives me the most trouble is the air move where Botan shoots while descending down from the air, like a fucking divekick except with way more range. Might just need to lab this matchup more though since I haven't actually went into training mode to lab counters to matchups yet since I'm not sure if I want to become that sweaty for this game and despite my feelings on how rough it is to fight that character and how strong Botan is overall I still think the matchup is probably something like 6-4 at worst since Sora setplay still destroys Botan. I think overall Sora has really good matchup spreads throughout and is definitely a top tier character if played well.

skullgirls is unbelievably complicated and difficult and the small playerbase still playing is extremely good at the game. however, the tutorial is very good and teaches a lot of worthwhile fundamentals. so if you already own it, then go for it.

You don't need an easier fighting game. You need to make easier decisions about the game you're playing.
Why do I say this?
Because no fighting game is inherently easier than any other, because you're playing against another person's habits and tricks, not the game itself.

If you suck as much dick as you say you do then right now you need to go into matches and focus on very few things for your game plan initially. And keep using that game plan and PAY ATTENTION to when that game plan works at what ranges and when it does not.
Example:
Choose Coco.

You are here to learn not win.
The ONE combo you will use = Crouching Medium, into Standing Heavy, into Medium Fire.
Do the whole thing each time, even when they block you to build a bit of meter as the trade for you getting hit.
The ONE "get the fuck off me dude!" you will use = crouching Light. Spam it, do not worry about comboing out of it, just spam it if you are being too pressure until they back off.
The ONE Anti-Air you will use = Medium tail grab to catch jumping and then, if you have the superchat meter to do it, AsaCoco plug their asshole for extra damage on top.
The ONE Footsie tool you will use = Sweep since it reaches the longest and low.
The ONE "AAAAAAA I'M BEING COMBOED TO DEATH FOR THE 2nd TIME IN A ROW TASKUETEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" you will use = The Burst button.
Focus on using just those for the next 25 matches. Even if you go 0-25 your goal is to see how effective each of those options are and in what situations. None of them require crazy execution and will end up as your bread and butter when you start to add more of her moveset to your arsenal of situations you find yourself in.

Probably the best advice these threads will ever get. If you're new to fighting games the last thing you should give a fuck is your w-l ratio. You should focus on getting used to the game and it's controls regardless if you end up 0-100 by the end of your first week, because the you from the future will thank your for actually learning how the game works instead of wasting time into perfecting some gimmicky strategy that won't work against better players or practicing some ultra optimized 100% combo that you'll never land because it requires full resources and a jumping H starter.

That's the move that was giving me a lot of issues I think. Her big sword normals (5M and 6M) are both weak to jumps. If you jump around a lot the Sora player might focus more on trying to wait for a jump so they can anti-air you, but being able to control when you fall with j.2H is strong because it messes up their anti-air timing. If you manage to hit them with j.2H then it's an easy confirm into a combo from there for at least 1/3rd of the Sora player's health.

Just be wary about throwing grenades in neutral because they're more than slow enough for Sora to simply reflect.

yeah, that's the other thing that was giving me trouble because usually when I run into a player that can punish me for whiffing I just fall back on the long range pokes of 4H and 236L to damage them at range and force them to come to me but then Sora can do the block move with A-chan and that just ends up hurting me more

This one doesn't have air dashes, so it can be played more slow-paced if you want to. Otherwise to that, I'd say it's similarly easy to pick up. I had to add random ark dragons to throw the opponent off, but that crouching medium conditions them to jump then I got free tail grab, including the super version.

I know it's late, I played this a few times. You have to make her approach you. That sounds retarded, but you can do it. But you have to pick Kiara, she is an absolute must in the matchup. The offcollab means she can't just zone you out since you can use her projectiles against her. The basic strategy is to spam 22S to dodge projectiles and build up meter for Kiara. When she realizes she has to approach, 3C is your major poke in the matchup. It's also good for punishing certain things, like a poorly spaced 6M. If she continues to try to zone you, then Kiara's off collab allows you to approach much easier. If she tries to use grenade in her blockstrings, use 5M. I don't know what it is, but 5M has this weird projectile armor point and the grenade won't knock you down, so you can use 5M again and get in her face, but it only works at a certain distance and I don't know why. Of course, on offense you can roll her. It's still not a good matchup, but it's very doable.

You heard it here first. Coco has a ToD. Don't whiff against her or you die. I don't know why I did this, I guess I have nothing better to do. The only downside is the damage is random, and I don't know what causes it. Sometimes the full combo does about 750, other times it does 1000 and it depends on if you get the H cartwheel super scaling that makes it do fucking 585 damage.
