But yes, it seems like in the last few months youtube vtubers really caught on to the donothon and it's getting spammed left and right, so that by now if you check the 'dex you're basically always guaranteed to find at least one or even more vtubers from the smallcorpos having a donothon going on right now. Not hard to figure out why, they saw that it worked for others and tried to get a piece of that pie also. And it'll continue to work as long as the pockets of the fanbase don't run out.
As for them "peacing out" afterwards, to be fair I can only think of a few recent examples (the two Kawaii gen3 girls and Yuri from PC) against dozens of other donothons that went by without incident, but sure it just takes a few bad apples to taint the whole impression. Part of it might have to do with the fact that donothons are usually where the talents gets their biggest amount of money in a very short time, so they might look at that and let it go to their head thinking "omg wow so much cash, I'm so popular! Now, if only I didn't have to share it with my corpo... lol I just graduate, all my loyal donators will surely follow me, and without the corpo cut I'm gonna be even richer on my own!!!".
