It's been a hectic few weeks in the world of Vtubers, so it's not all that surprising or big a deal. There's still plenty of writers who posted proof of working yesterday, and the thread before hit bump limit just fine.

Kinda makes me wish I got off my ass and wrote the VShojo hatefucking fic I have outlined, but after trying to watch them they kind of annoyed me for the most part so I lost interest.

Other people are paying just the same as you are to use the equipment. Having them wait to use it because you want to write smut in a place you're not supposed to be doing anything besides working out is immoral. It's not illegal, no one will complain about it, but it is still immoral. Like dumping oil in the sink without breaking apart the fat first, or not returning your shopping carts to the correct place after using them. It's actually very much the opposite of autism, because without it, society doesn't function.

Ok, you just outed yourself on never going to the gym.
Everyone takes time to recover after a set. 3 minutes is an average pace. I'm not sitting their for twenty minutes because I'm not a retired boomer with nothing to do all day, but I'm also not going to rush back in when my muscles are tired just because I get the idea that somebody from across the gym wants to use it.
Even if they do want to use it, we gymbros, in our infinite wisdom, invented this process called "working in", whereupon you're free to ask to use equipment that somebody else is resting on.

I take 40 seconds between each set, 50 on the final one. I count the seconds, and when the time is up, I just do it. If you take 3 minutes, either you aren't pushing yourself hard enough by taking such long rests, or you ARE a retired old boomer after all.

Combat is fun, not too easy that it plays itself, but easy enough for any casual.

Back in an old thread I used to frequent, we actually had a writing competition divided into four categories: Comedy, Action, Drama, and Romance. Each category would have a winner, then the top fics of each category would be judged and they would be the best (short) fic of the year. The winners were decided through polls, and all the entries were compiled in a PDF or archive, iirc.
The short length of the fics plus the competition aspect not only got people reading fics more (since they were short), but writing more as well (for all the Yous and the title of best fic of the year). New bloods usually get in on writing through these competitions. Dunno if this'll work like that here, but might as throw it into the idea pile

It's not a bad idea, but I think any new blood that tries writing for this thread would get discouraged when put up against some of the beasts that are the regulars here. That's not an insult to their skills mind you, everyone has to start somewhere and anyone has the potential to win, but some Anons have been cultivating their writing for far longer and would have a clear advantage.
Of course, you could try setting up a competition for writers that *don't* frequent /wg/, but that's hard to enforce and there's no way of knowing if one of our guys secretly enters.

Yeah, all we need is an anon who would host the competition, set up the polls, and organize the entries for viewing on competition day. I remember that there was a deadline for all the entries, which were submitted through pastebin links. These links were then put into individual pastebins per category.
As for potential smurfing, what we did was that all the entries should only have the title and the story itself; no identifiers for the authors. So everyone would be going in not knowing whether this year's winner was a newbie or /wg/ veteran except that specific anon only (unless he/she went around saying 'I was the one who wrote X', of course)
>>48583167
As for links, iirc there would be an anchor post to which everyone who wanted to submit their entries would reply to. The post would also have a reminder for the deadline of submissions. In the reply, an entrant would put the following:
>Title of the story
>Category
>Pastebin link

I can't remember if we used StrawPoll or Poal.me; any of the two would be fine, though. As long as no one botfags, of course. As for timespan, I think it was... a month and a half? If /wg/ is too lazy to write a collaborative fic, I highly doubt it's members could be bothered to write something for a competition. You probably don't have to worry about any veterans hijacking the contest.

>>48583582
If this idea ever does end up happening, we could temporarily modify the thread to "competition mode", like /hfz/ has done with lord of the board. We leave a story anchor for regular stories, then a competition anchor for stories that anons from across the board wish to enter into the competition. I think it wouod be a good idea to require entries to not previously be declared to have been written by someone. As in, they're not released to the general til the day of the contest
Still though, there's the potential of some faggy author smurfing his own entry, but I'm not really sure if that's solvable other than the normal IP check polling sites.
>There was also a word limit so anons wouldn't end up writing really long pieces. I think it was 1k - 2k words or so. Maybe 3k
I think this is a great idea. As a longer writer myself, it'll keep things more balanced and allow for more time spent editing, thus creating higher quality works.

For now, I would only go one category, just because I don't think that many will enter. It would suck to have an entire category just be one person's entry.
>There's also the question of whether the contest should be Holo-only or mixed Holo-Niji-Whatever other corpo or indie you want to write about
I think most non-Holo writers will go in with the understanding that Holo works tend to hold favor and will probably get more votes. No reason to restrict it.
Part of the fun would if someone writes an entry about their indie rando that happens to be really good and showcases that indie's personality.

It doesn't break anonymity, unless you're a thread celebrity that wants to make sure everyone knows what your story was (and in that case you're probably not too concerned about hiding your preferences anyway. The worst consequence would be people shitting on your taste, but given that your own fics probably reflect your taste too that's not a new risk.
As for someone voting multiple times, you can't totally prevent that. Eh... but then you'd have people reading and voting right up to the day of the next contest. I'd rather have a massive story dump. As in, it would list the end date of voting, the date of the announcements, and a pastebin to each fic that has been submitted so far? If the amount of fics are too much for one post, then we can have it scroll through the most recently submitted.
I think this would be a good idea because then people don't have to go twaling through some external archive, the story link would be the first thing they see entering a /wg/ thread. Since it gives writers clout and guaranteed clicks, it could definitely incentivize people to write.

Wait, so let me get this straight. If we get a lot of fics, we dump them by category (Romance, action, comedy, drama) every three days. So first would be romance fics and voting for best romance, then three days later we dump action fics and get voting for best action fic, and then so on.

And if we don't get that many fics, we dump them all at once and have people vote for which story is the winner of each category?
If we do go with the former option, I think three days is too short. Maybe five days would be better since people can't always be monitoring /vt/ and reading takes time.

Then I will be the only entry and win, fufufu...
Honestly though, out of the 50 ips in this thread, I have a feeling that a good amount can conjure up 5k words in a month's time.
>>48586536
Nta, but five days is fine, so long as it isn't a week. My only issue with the weekly dump was having four categories.
Honestly, I think the best bet now is to just post the contest and wait to see how many entries we have.
>>48586745
Same. To me, I think driving up an incentive to get regulars here to actually write is more important than actually dragging in newcomers.
I also think one kindly worded shill posts in all of the generals will drag in a surprsing amount of newcomers. Similar to how /hfz/ or that country map general does it.

I think we should address catagories. The suggested ones have been action, drama, romance, and comedy. Some of those overlap a bit. Since we have a lot of horror and smut fics, maybe we should narrow things down? How about vanilla, love, and violence?

It'd be pretty hard to organise this anonymously, especially if we're trying to get different opinions on the matter. I guess we could leave all the organising to one person, but that would be a lot of work for one guy. Should we put together a few key members or...?
No, we're not making a discord. I'm talking simple emails.

Doesn't roll off the tongue very well imo. We could go even simpler and just have two categories, NSFW and SFW. If we try to acommodate for all the possible fics people want to write, from degeneracy to fluff, we'd have too many,
