At that point she has to make a choice, if she wants to keep streaming Apex seriously, she has to grind tournaments until she fix her habit of crumbling under pressure. I don't play competitive video games, but choking in a tournament of anything you care about and know you're at least decent at hurts. Many people underestimate just how different psychologically practice and competition are, and it takes a lot of competing to get your brain to calm down and do in competition what you do in practice nearly every day.

I boxed for a little while like 5 years ago and I didn't find a whole lot of difference between sparring and actual bouts at the level I was at. You should know the type of person you are when you do any sports. Do your emotions get the best of you? Learn to stay calm and only use rationality in and out of practice. I'm like that and I'm guessing Selen is too.
I find it's quite rare for people to be able to channel their emotions productively into the sport. Selen clearly isn't like that, I mean this ain't rocket science. I'd say very, very few humans are like that.

Yeah. Axel tried, but it was a pretty big weakness that it felt like their leader was their coach instead of one of them. That's something I noticed during the scrims. There were a lot of things that contributed. For one, they did their risky plays during scrims which means that other teams now know about them and they can't do it during the actual tourney. Two, they didn't have a solid shot caller. Three, Altare wanted to switch characters but never got the chance to. First time knowing of Selen? She even had a break down in a silly three versus one kill race. Yes, she said she didn't want to be IGL because she doesn't want the pressure of having to make decisions and call shots. Basically she's got no nerve and has nervous breakdowns under the slightest amount of stress. So she's actually really good as long as she's relaxed and would definitely be the best IGL(her best content is streams where she does all her thinking out loud and explains all her decisions and reactions in real time while playing, and did an entire solo to masters while doing it), but she's afraid of the responsibility so she rejects being the leader even though she's the obvious choice, but then it's SO obvious that she feels responsible even when she ISN'T the IGL and becomes even more nervous and guilty when things go poorly. The obvious solution would be to man up and just be the IGL and accept direct responsibility for what happens instead of passively guilt tripping herself into insanity and choking to death from the back seat. But her problem is she's physically incapable of manning up because she's literally a woman. She needs/wants a strong hand to guide her, but paradoxically also wants to be really good at playing games by herself and so the only pool of people she's actually comfortable being under are pro players.

tl:dr - she's the apex equivalent of a career woman who fails at relationships because she wants a man who earns more than her.

His original plan was to go with some JP players, but his manager couldn't set him up on time, and he had an added restriction of "I'm not allowed to approach people without my manager, they have to approach me."

But surely Selen must have known that having a plat player be the IGL will result in that? Even if she's a washed up pred, she still has way more experience than Axel, and she should have taken the role from the very beginning or shut the fuck up. That poor dumb dingo was borderline melting from all the tension, and in between matches she started her passive-aggressive complaining to their coach how she was put in a position she didn't want to be.
If anyone's interested in Axel commenting on the whole Vsaikyou experience, you can check his stream https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyQL93B6fns Top comment has all the important timestamps. He essentially talks how he was invited, how he got Altare on board, how they've fucked up, what bad calls he made, how they could have taken the 5th game more seriously instead of going full on ape mode and so on. He also apologized to his fans for a bunch of things like disappointing them, being silent when he got tilted and so on. Compare that to Selen where she indirectly blames it all on Axel for being a shit IGL. They had a great month of training together, and it's a shame that she has to be so salty.

Yes, she's got several streams where she easily keeps up with pros as her teammates(by keeps up I don't mean matches, I mean she's actually contributing to fights and not dying with no damage or kills) and does it while joking around talking about other things even when they're fighting entire pred stacks of other pro players. Essentially she's a boosted bitch MENTALLY, as she gains a superhuman increase in mental durability and skill when on a team with good players, dips down into low masters by herself, and implodes into bronze on a team of shitters.
I think it's not even an internal thing, it's her worry and anxiety about the other players on her team that fucks with her. Because she's comfortable leaving pro players alone and even shitting on them, knowing they won't take it personally and deal with worse all the time, she does better. But with newbie teammates she's constantly stressed about ruining the game or stressing them out, or being a bad collab partner.
Her specific weakness is tournaments, because then even WITH pros and ex pros on her team she still implodes out of fear of choking and ruing their chances at a win.
Probably the best strategy for Selen to win a tournament is if her team didn't tell her she was in one and she thought it was just an abnormally sweaty pub match.

I don't think he didn't let her in, he probably just had her at 11 points like the other pred players which would make it impossible for her to be on Axel's team since their point totals would add up to 19 and the maximum is 21 but the minimum point cost for a player is 3 so they couldn't form a team that way. Axel just haggled her cost down to 10 points so they could fit in a 3 point player.

That's definitely a huge part of it, thinking back to her meltdowns when she played with Bobon last year. Axel has a really good big picture view of the game though, he almost always nails where the zone is going to be and what the right spot is which is a great IGL skill. He falls apart when they get into fights which is why they ended up switching out and having Selen call when they start shooting. Ended up being super confusing though.

You could see he was calling for most of the fights as well, Selen herself admits she was "counter-calling" Axel a lot and asks the coach if she should stop.
She wouldn't be saying that if she was supposed to be the one calling fights, and their coach never brought up Axel calling the fights either, so obviously that was his job.

It's true lol, the biggest real Apex tournament was going on around the same time as Vsaikyo and it got like 1/8th of the viewership that Vsaikyo got on the main stream alone, and still less than some individual players' POVs. I saw a video of an Apex pro seeing the presentation in the Vsaikyo stream and asking why the official leagues they play in don't put in as much effort on the production side. There's a reason why full time Apex pros will take time to coach Vsaikyo teams for free, they unironically get more exposure from coaching vtubers than from playing in the biggest "real" tournaments.

Not really, Axel was supposed to shut up while Selen called a fight and Selen was supposed to shut up while Axel called a rotation. I do hope that she didn't pretend to have great chemistry in TSB because she genuinely believed they were going to do well. They all generally agreed that their team was fucked and were all content with not placing last.

I've said it before, but the fact that they all ended up feeling disappointed with their results suggests to me that the journey to the tournament really was a lot of fun for everyone involved. I hope they remember that the next time they all collab.

Because when she plays with pros outside of tournament settings she literally just turns her brain off most of the time and lets them carry her, and she definitely doesn't do any dedicated aim training. Her playstyle when she's not playing Gib or Seer is literally just to run into the enemy team and go down first and hope her teammates pick up her slack.
She's way better than she used to be but she's improved way slower than everyone else in the scene has because she doesn't dedicate enough time to actually improving, most of the time she just plays for fun after recording/streaming. Her game sense is "solid" in that she has a pretty good idea of what you're supposed to do but no idea how to actually execute it, and her spatial awareness is laughable.
