Despite what a very vocal group who doesn't even watch vtubers might say male vtubers are not popular and they are just a big debuff for everyone else involved.
NijiEN streams a dozen times more than HoloEN and puts much more effort, collabs more and has more game permissions.
But they cannot beat the male debuff.
Note most of the HoloEN who collab with males are comparatively lower than their potential would have been and competent indies and small corpo who keep male interaction low are also doing better.
Hey remember when Lauzlight and Obsydia collabed similar games and 3K+ was common across most of them, the rest not lagging too far behind.

I’ve dropped every girl in NijiEN except for Selen. Idk why. I hate the male collab shit, but I’ve never really cared in her case. I’ve even dropped Pomu recently because she called in to the Luca birthday stream. I know it’s schizo logic, but idc. I tried not to unicorn the girls in NijiEN because I knew from the beginning that it couldn’t happen, I lowered my expectations, tolerated the homos, but I’m at my limit with the fags in NijiEN. Selen is my last light. And even then I have to ignore streams she does with the guys. I guess I don’t even unicorn for them, I just don’t want to watch a girl and guy vtuber on the same screen. Oh and I hate Luca, for a lot of things but that Minecraft server fuckup and his general lack of humility to the point he doesn’t even apologize. He’s just an asshole.

Don't worry you are not a schizo, I've seen a lot of people complain about Luca and generally those also complain about Pomu x Luca. I dropped NijiEN ages ago but I experienced a bit of that dynamic to understand how it might have grown to be even worse than it was.
Selen still has a lot of her old fans left so whatever she's doing she's doing it right. Even her collabs with the HolostarsEN haven't turned off her fans.
Might be part of her girl brotuber appeal or something or maybe the way she treats guys is different from other on NijiEN.

holoen doesn't need more time, we've had plenty, everyone knows all the members, they aren't waiting to find their audience, there's no point in stalling any new gen
