Its the same reason tightly contested matches in sports are fondly remembered and no one really enjoys complete blowouts besides fans of the winning team. The point is that puyo is broken. Puyo has a damage multiplier that increases over time. You finish the puyo opponent off quickly or you take a lot more damage the longer the match goes.
