The tourney result was definitely a bummer, but it sucks more seeing Selen get down on herself and talking about quitting FPS. Even if she's just joking. I love Selen's Apex. I'm not even a big fan of the game and don't watch other people playing it much, but when Selen is having a good game, it's one of my favorite times with her. I hope she recovers and resumes the 2434 challenge. I really enjoyed those streams.

It's only intended to be a one-week thing. CR Cup and VSaikyou were always one week of scrims and then the actual match (and for the last few CR Cups it was only like 3 days of scrims). But since last year Hal started announcing the teams for Vsai super early to build up hype for them, which allows the tryhard autists like Kuzuha and whoever to start hosting their own customs a month in advance which kind of forces the rest of the teams to follow suit so that they don't fall behind. It's pretty fucking awful imo, it's way more enjoyable as a one week experience.

Altare had bad experiences when he went almost pro ow player and has learned from that, he has been the calm support for both Selen and Axel, and while Axel started out as a malding dog, he has learned from that and he is actually very mature (see his speech at the end of his POV), so if she opens up and they talk about, I am sure they will all grow from this experience. I can't stop thinking about how the last few matches went, I'm too sucked in that my head is actually aching a bit so I need to write something, I have a bit of an obsession with leader roles in any group activity as I want to be an animation director (or smthn like that) at some point in the future, I tend to get put into an advisor/organizer/leader role myself as I'm good at observing from the sidelines and notice things when seeing the overall picture, from my experience and watching this the mental managing was really bad because people would walk around the problem and not cut at it itself, but it's understandable because that could cause a terrible reaction, it's like surgery. But it's one of the most frustrating things I see, which is sensitivity, if you've doubts u need to put it out there into the group and break it down with pure logic as a group, keeping this suffocating scepticism in the air was even getting to me. You basically need a blunt therapist type of figure to tackle these social norms of not stepping on each other's feelings in order to get somewhere but to do that u need extreme trust and understanding of each others emotions and level of sensitivity and to do that u need to just ask each other these questions unabashedly. It really fucking hurt when Axel realized the slow rotation was wrong and Selen was actually on to something and took in all the "venom" and went to the firing range, it really fucking hurt to see Selen's crippling self doubt and I could feel she was trying to not feel useless, from what I've seen in this thread the self doubt seems engrained into her very being from past history, she's the most afraid to have a say in things, I feel she needed the "therapy" the most, how she acted at the very end match made me feel she was trying to laugh the pain away. Altare himself even realized the toxic positivity he was using to mask things but I feel like it just leaves something bitter at the back of the mind (for me anyway cause I'm stupid) because I feel no one takes toxic positivity seriously into the brain, it's like a temporary patch. I think a lot of people don't realize how much harder streaming makes anything. You have whatever you're playing, but also you have to keep an eye on chat and keep talking without repeating yourself for hours, trying to be funny or entertaining. Pro players that stream didn't start out streaming in their very first few tournaments. They were able to build up basic skills in lots of lower stress, non-streamed games. Literally hundreds of them in Noct's case, for example. And only then started streaming. Going right into tournaments streaming to begin with is such an extra layer of difficulty it seems unfair to compare progress to people that got to do it without all that added complexity.
