Hololive convincing hundreds of thousands of young men they are cuckolds if a woman on the internet who doesn't know they exist talks to another man.

VERSEn, and I say this despite being one of very few that watch their streams.
They not only had a very high production promo video produced for around their debut, but they've continued released them (on the same channel) and the most viewed one other than the first only has 6k views.

Sony just has no fucking idea how to advertise their Vtubers and it's quite sad since they do have some pretty good talents and a base to work with. They're just absolutely retarded.
Also it's probably a bit too early to say it definitely, but I'm pretty sure the Kizuna AI successors are a big disaster. I can't see them making back the costs of their full production TV anime. That shit is not cheap. Just look at the views for their recent videos and you'll see that the one Kizuna AI's name and brand got 500k+ views whereas anything involving the new girls got massively less views. Looks grim for sure.

The guy who did it is Indie Dev Tier, so probably not that expensive.

But I think a western modeler could have done a better job, because a lot of Japanese are somewhat behind, due to their lack of english comprehension and thus not having as much access to information.

A lot of problems also come from lighting. A couple of fill lights that get rid of the shadows probably would have made it somewhat better. Just like real-life photo/video shootings.

That's another problem with realistic stuff, these days, you need a lot of knowledge about how real photo and film techniques work, you need to know how materials interact with light (e.g. to properly implement a fresnel effect, when appropriate, etc).
Outdoor scenes are usually simpler though, because you mostly deal with only a strong sun light and fill with GI or fake GI

I think Sony still didn't recover their public image in vtubinng scene after kaguya luna. However, they sort of recover with VEE but sadly, VerSen is put back in the corner further with VEE doing well

Special mention for the Gamebu debacle, where Unlimited did the same dumb thing with their entire cast and nearly tanked themselves as well.

I think I heard about it once, was it where the company announced they were getting rid of the talents then fan backlash made them backtrack and bring back the old VAs only for them to quietly behind the scenes terminate them once again and replace with new VAs a few months later by which point the company went completely belly up?
If so, sounds like the management was tone deaf and had some vendetta against one or more of the VAs and were willing to take the financial hit just to spite the ever living shit out of them.
