Mel's collapse into irrelevancy really confuses me, 5 years ago she had the biggest name recognition and was even beating Fubuki at the start while 'elsewhere' she was releasing songs getting millions of views.
Now she is dead last in her branch and any song she releases either on Mel or NotMel struggles to break 150k.

If Suisei and Miko are inspirational tales on how to succeed as a vtuber, Mel is a cautionary tale of what NOT to do as one. As rare as it is, any time she is given a prominent role it puts a harsh light on her deficiencies. The worst thing is how she straight up missed the clipper boom train because of he multiple hiatuses, and the chances of her getting a dedicated one at this point are very small. It's not impossible to happen since even AZKi is getting her fair share of attention ever since INNK was disbanded and she became Hololive proper, but still unlikely when new vtubers debut every day and any new Hololive gen will make it even harder.

Nah, most of gen 1 feels like they don't care about being big anymore. They had their glory moments back then and now they just want to sit back and chill with smaller audiences and sometimes helping with behind the scene stuff and join the big corpo events, leaving the newer gens to get the numbers. Suisei meanwhile still thirst for more success and exposure
